Her eyes narrowed.

“You’re very confident.”

“I’m standing between your legs.”

Luna looked down like she forgot that part.

When her eyes came back to mine, I was already smiling.

“You are so—”

I kissed her before she finished.

Her hand caught the front of my shirt, and whatever word she was about to use disappeared against my mouth.

I smiled into the kiss.

She pulled back.

“Did you just laugh?”

“No.”

“You did.”

“I would never.”

“You absolutely—”

I kissed her again.

This time, she didn’t try to finish the sentence.

Her fingers tightened in my shirt as I slid one hand along her jaw, tilting her face toward mine.

The kiss deepened slowly, not because I was trying to make it happen, but because neither of us pulled away. Luna’s other hand settled against my chest, and I felt the change in her breathing right along with my own.

That was when I became very aware of how quiet it was around us.

The bookstore was locked. Naomi was gone, and Mila was at Tasha’s.

We were alone. Luna was sitting in front of me with her knees on either side of my hips and her mouth moving against mine like she’d called me here for more than conversation.

I pulled back first, but not far enough to put any real space between us.

Her eyes opened, and she studied me. “What are you thinking about?”

I laughed softly. “You sure you want to know?”

Her thumb moved along the collar of my shirt as she kept her eyes on mine. “Yes.”

I could’ve told her exactly what I’d been thinking since she pulled me closer.

Instead, I ran my thumb along her cheek.

“You first.”

“That’s not fair.”
