“You thought it.”
“I did not.”
“You definitely did.”
Luna grabbed the other end before I could argue with her.
“On three.”
I looked down at her hands wrapped around the edge.
“You know I can get this by myself.”
“And I know I can help.”
I didn’t argue.
“One, two, three.”
We lifted.
The table wasn’t particularly heavy, but it was awkward enough that getting it around the chairs required more coordination than either of us anticipated.
“Left.”
“I am going left.”
“My left.”
“Your left is my right.”
“Exactly.”
“That makes no sense.”
“It makes perfect sense.”
“Luna.”
“Ellis.”
I stopped when the back of my leg bumped against something and looked down. There was a chair directly behind me.
She laughed as we adjusted our grip, and this time I let her call the direction before we started moving again.
We eventually got the table where she wanted it without either of us dying.
Luna stepped back to look it over, then nodded.
“There.”
“Finally.”
“That took five minutes.”
“Five minutes longer than it should’ve.”
She rolled her eyes, but there was a smile on her face when she turned toward the rest of the setup.
