“Go to the last page,” Dominic said.

Monster moved toward the safe as Bishop walked in from the hallway. “What happened?”

“Dominic Sanchez is on the phone,” Ghost said.

Bishop froze. “He's alive?”

“Apparently nobody in this fucking story stays dead,” Jackhammer muttered.

Monster opened the safe and removed the ledger, handing it to Angel. She flipped to the back. “It's blank.”

“Hold it up to the light,” Dominic ordered.

Angel walked toward the window and lifted the page toward the sunlight coming in. “I don't see—” She stopped.

Jackhammer moved beside her. “What?”

“There are indentations,” she whispered.

“You mean writing?” Hammer asked.

“Yes,” Angel said.

Ghost grabbed a pencil from the bar. “I have an old trick that might work.” Angel laid the book down. Very lightly, Ghost shaded across the page with the pencil. Letters appeared, and a name. Ghost stopped to let Angel read it.

Bishop moved closer and his face drained of color. “No.”

Angel looked at him. “You know the name?” Bishop didn't answer.

Ghost read it aloud. “Robert Mercer.” He was Razor's father.

Jackhammer frowned. “We already know about him.”

Dominic heard through the phone. “Keep going.” Angel took the pencil from Ghost and shaded farther down. Another line appeared; this time it was a date.

Bishop stared at it. “He was supposed to be dead by then.”

Dominic laughed bitterly. “Supposed to be.”

Angel closed her eyes. “Please don't tell me there's another man who's been secretly alive for twenty-five years.”

“No,” Dominic said.

“Thank God,” she breathed.

“Robert Mercer is dead,” her uncle said. Angel exhaled. “But he didn't die when you think he did.”

Ghost leaned against the bar. “I'm already tired of this conversation.”

Angel ignored him. “What does that mean?”

“Mercer ran the network until six years ago,” Dominic explained. Jackhammer looked at Ghost because Viper died seven years ago. Shadow died six months later. The timing wasn't accidental. Angel seemed to understand too.

“My father found him,” she whispered.

“Yes,” her uncle said.

“After everyone thought he was dead, Dad found him,” she repeated.
