“She's running out of patience,” Ghost spat.
“So am I,” Jackhammer added.
Angel almost smiled as Razor sighed. “When you found Shadow, he was still alive.”
She nodded. “He tried to tell you where to find Bishop.”
“I don't remember that,” she said.
“You were hysterical,” Razor said.
“What did he say?” she asked.
“Three words.” Angel waited. “Find the Bishop.” Her breath caught. It wasn’t a name, but a clue. Maybe Shadow had known she wouldn't understand then. Maybe he'd hoped she'd remember later, but trauma had taken even that from her.
Angel looked at Bishop. “He died trying to send me to you.”
“Yes,” Bishop said. She closed her eyes. For the first time in seven years, the memory changed. She didn’t remember the blood, or Shadow dying in her arms. She remembered what it all meant. He hadn't betrayed her. He hadn't betrayed her father. He'd tried to save them both. He'd failed, but he'd tried.
Angel opened her eyes. “Thank you.”
Razor frowned. “For what?”
“For finally telling me something true.” Angel looked toward Monster. “What happens to him?”
Monster's eyebrows rose. “You asking me?”
“Yes,” she said.
“He ordered your father's death. Had Shadow killed. Put a death sentence on you. Brought trouble onto my property.” Monster looked at Razor. “I'm not exactly planning to buy him breakfast.”
Razor laughed, but Angel didn't. “No.” Everyone looked at her.
Ghost frowned. “No?”
“We don't kill him,” she said.
Razor looked surprised, and Ghost looked considerably less pleased. “Angel.”
She faced him. “The ledger has names.”
“So?” he asked.
“So, we take it to the police,” she said.
Ghost understood. “Fuck.”
“Some of them might still be active. Some of the people in here might still have power,” she said.
Bishop nodded. “They do.”
Angel looked at Razor. “And he knows them.”
Monster smiled slowly. “You want him alive.”
“I want him talking,” she said.
Razor shook his head. “I won't talk.” Angel walked toward him. For seven years she'd been afraid of this man. She was afraid he'd find her, afraid he'd kill her, and afraid she'd hear a motorcycle outside her apartment and see Nomad Knights colors. She wasn't afraid anymore.
