“With who?” she asked.

“Your club,” Hammer said.

Angel laughed bitterly. “My club?” She turned to face him. “The Nomad Knights weren't my club after my father died.” Neither man spoke, and Angel shook her head. “You don't understand. Everything changed when Dad was killed. Men I'd known my whole life stopped looking at me like Bishop's daughter and started looking at me like a problem.”

“Who became Prez?” Ghost asked.

Angel's stomach tightened. That was a name she didn't want to say aloud again. “Razor.”

Ghost's expression darkened. “You know him?”

“By reputation,” he admitted.

“Then you know enough,” she said.

Jackhammer looked between them. “I don't know shit,” he admitted.

“Caleb Mercer,” Ghost said. “Old-school biker and mean as hell, too.”

Angel nodded. “He was Dad's VP.”

Ghost's eyes narrowed. “And he became Prez after Viper died.”

“Yes,” she said.

“And six months later, Saint was murdered,” Ghost said, and Angel nodded. “And you were blamed.”

“Yes,” she said.

Ghost stared at her, and Angel could practically see the gears turning in his head. “Don't,” she whispered.

“Don't what?” he asked.

“Say it out loud.” If he said the words he was thinking, it would make everything more real, and she didn’t need that right now.

“Razor, he—” Ghost started.

“I said don't,” she spat.

“He benefits from both deaths,” Ghost said quickly, as though he needed to get it out before she stopped him again.

“You think I haven't thought about that?” she asked.

Jackhammer moved closer. “Angel, did Razor kill your father?”

“I don't know.” Her voice broke, and Jackhammer pulled her against him. Angel resisted for maybe two seconds, but then she gave up. Her forehead hit his chest and his arms wrapped around her. She felt safe for the first time in a damn long time. God, she'd forgotten what safe felt like.

Then Ghost stepped behind her, and his hand settled against the back of her neck. She had two men, with two solid bodies, surrounding her. It was the same way she'd woken up that morning, except this wasn't about sex—this was worse because it was about comfort, and Angel couldn't afford to feel comfort because comfort made people stay.

“I need to leave,” she whispered.

“No,” Jackhammer said.

“They found me, and that means that I can’t stay here,” she insisted.

“We know that they’re looking for you, Angel,” Ghost said.

She turned to look at him. “How do you know that?” she asked, not sure that she’d like his answer.
