“She’ll probably send an RV or something over. I’ve already let her know our numbers; otherwise, they’ll somehow make eleven berths,” Jack replied with a laugh.

“They really have that many bedrooms?” I asked as we headed back to the car park to get what was needed to start planning.

“Yes. The buses are longer and wider than usual, but the rooms are tiny. You can put both arms out and touch the sides of your bunk without straining. The beds are built over wardrobes and drawers. All seasonal clothing goes in cases in the bus’s storage area. I doubt we’ll be on the road as much because you guys have a clubhouse. It won’t become a way of living for you like it was for us,” Jack replied.

“Didn’t you care about not having a home base?” That would have bothered me.

“Nah. It was what we signed up for. Callie made sure we had vacations, but we got along really well, and some of us customised our bunks. TVs mounted on the walls, etc.,” Jack said with a grin.

“I imagine it could be edgy in a tight spot like that?” I wasn’t too concerned. My brothers and I argued, blew off steam, but moved on. Then again, Jack wasn’t a brother. Hell, he’d not even asked about prospecting.

“There’re two offices, our bunks, kitchen, and lounge. If you want somewhere, you can find space,” Jack replied.

I nodded as we grabbed what we needed and headed back. Sadly, we didn’t have an infinite number of cameras, although we had rather a lot. We couldn’t cover every area of Chillingham. We’d have to prioritise.

Dive picked up his laptop, and we watched the others leave.

“How does Sunny bring his bike along?” I asked.

“Trailer. You can get those double trailers, where you guys can put two bikes on so nobody has to leave their Harley,” Jack suggested.

“Not a bad idea. Be nice if Callie sent a driver. None of us has driven anything bigger than the van.”

“If you require drivers, ask. Callie will hire two. She’ll have to know because of the extra bunk required. The drivers share one, as when they’re not driving, they usually stay at hotels. Although they could catch a train home in England, she might send only one.”

“She’d do that?”

“Yeah,” Jack replied shortly. I didn’t want to take advantage of Callie’s good and very generous nature. However, I couldn’t help thinking she looked like the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

We headed into the tearooms and sat down. Janice was still there, moving about, and fresh vats of tea and coffee had been placed down.

“Teams. Jack, you’ll take charge of a team, and I’ll take the other,” I said.

“You’ll be comfortable with that?” Jack asked.

“Yeah. It cuts my screen time and saves one of the others from being on camera as the lead. We’ll leave Dive to his research, and Ghoul can be shared when needed. That’s his usual operating method. I’ll take Trunk, Lich, and Lucky. Jack, you’ll have Reaver, Coffee, and Suga. Gimzo’s got the cameras, and Dive will help him. As we’re maxing our range, I think at least half need to be on motion sensors,” I replied.

“You know what would be nice?” Lich mused, and I quirked an eyebrow.

“Go on…”

“Hiring somebody to go through the footage for us. We sleep most of the day, and even if we only set up six cameras, that’s still twenty-four hours of recordings.”

“Lich has a point. Callie has Harry, Freddie, and Phil,” Jack said.

“We don’t have room for two drivers, let alone someone else,” I replied.

“That’s why you give Callie what we need now, rather than struggle later. We can probably get her to leave out the command centre and get a three-bedroom RV. Actually, we could cut the tour bus down for just sleeping and bathrooms. Then have the RV as the kitchen, command centre and lounge,” Jack mused. Before I could stop him, he was on the phone and messaging Callie.

“I don’t expect Callie to spring for that,” I said.

“Dude, she’ll simply increase your budget to pay for the extra staff, and she promised you the tour bus and command centre. Does this make our jobs easier? Yes. So, you thank her and do what is expected of you—which means helping people,” Jack retorted.

“Fine, but it feels wrong,” I murmured, and Jack shrugged. “Right, which areas should we investigate?” I ignored the unease I suddenly experienced.

“Honestly, I’d hit all of them. This dark spirit is roaming the castle, and he’s not locked down. But I noted Evie mentioned he appears where other ghosts are. Almost as if he’s trying to force the blame on them,” Jack replied.

“Didn’t think of that,” Lich said.
