I finally let Jade sleep in the late hours. One thing I know is she never holds her back on me in bed. I’m happy to hear she hasn’t slept with anyone. She’s still hoping she can leave me. I have all the borders covered. She can’t leave without me knowing. Her passport and face will flag alert the moment she approaches the air or seaport.

I know she’s not running away from me because she doesn’t want to be with me. She’s running away from me because my dad threatened her life and the lives of our children.

It feels so good to have Jade in my arms again. I spent some time watching her. She’s still so beautiful. I’ll go and get her the second half of her ring, maybe she will confess to me then.

I get back in bed with her a wrap her in my arms. I fall asleep a happy man.

I wake to Jade kissing my scars and running her hands all over scars. I’m happy, we are back to us again.

“Gent wake up, I need to get to the office.” I turn to her.

“We can spend the day together in bed Jade, make up for lost time.”

“Much as I would like that, my children aren’t happy that I’ve not come home so I need to get the project closed to the point where I can go and visit them.” I sit up the moment they talk about the children.

“Are they okay?” I ask trying not to look too concerned.

“They are fine, just want Mommy home.” She smiles. I can’t wait to have all of us together.

“Okay, go to the office, I’ll see you when I get in.” I watch her pick out clothes and get ready. I want to order her breakfast, but she says she’ll eat, at the office. I let Rilwan know when she’s on her way down. Her driver needs to be ready. Before she leaves, I ask, “How come you never looked back whenever I dropped you off at school I’ve always wondered.”

“If I’d looked back, I would have dropped out of college and followed you to the end of the earth.” She kisses me. “See you later, gent.” I’m stunned as I watch her leave.

I guessed right, we both didn’t want to leave but we had to. The hurt of how my dad tried to ruin us moves through me like waves. I lay back down for a few minutes before my phone started to go off. Grunting in annoyance I get out of bed and get ready to head into the office. I’ll keep Jade close and make sure no one gets to us again.

Leaving Naseer’s building, I’m an emotional rollercoaster. The ride in the elevator ends, I step out quietly and move like a zombie to my office. No, Lucy, that’s unusual but I don’t bother to question and move to my desk.

I will tell Naseer soon about the children. When I return from my visit with the children. My project is getting close to the end. My heart fears, that the moment I tell Naseer the twins are his children, he might want to take them or might reject me for lying about his father.

I decided to shut it all out for now and just focus on the work, so I can go and visit my children soon. Knox texted that he was out today and enjoying the city. I gave him some tips on where to go. I turn my focus to work.

My alarm beeps. I have a meeting in the conference room with Orion, Kelan, Ken Josh, and the cute guy from marketing that Shay is crushing on. I can’t for the life of me remember his name. I stepped out of my office and still no Lucy then I checked my phone and noticed. She’d texted me.

Lucy: Mariam, I’m not feeling well, I have stomach flu. I have emailed all the daily tasks.

Me: sorry to hear that, feel better and call me if you need anything else.
