Lucy was not at her desk when I walked in, I heard straight to my office. Ready to start my day. I know she’s close by or she would have texted me if she wasn’t coming in today.
I’d just fired up my laptop when I heard the door close. I looked up to see Naseer, I should be angry he told Knox we are married weirdly I’m not upset.
“Good morning, Prince Naseer,” I say to poke him.
“Morning Jade,” he says taking the seat in front of me.
“What can I do for you Prince Naseer,” I say just as he chuckles.
“I want you to come to me tonight,” he says. I’m shocked, I’m sure I heard him wrong. I leaned back in my chair trying to convince myself my brain I didn’t comprehend his words.
“Come. To. Me. Tonight, Jade,” he says each word like he wants it to sink in and for me to know exactly what we’ll be doing.
“Naseer …” I’m lost for words.
“Jade, I didn’t stop by yesterday as much as I desired to because I wanted you to finish your business with Knox. I know you won’t like me to come over tonight. You know, I don’t care if he’s there or if he hears us. I know you care. So, I want you to come to me tonight.”
“Naseer, I don’t think what you are asking is a good idea.”
“Do you want me to come to you, I won’t spend another night alone without my wife. I need you to know that. I will come over if you don’t come to me, we both know bolts, chains, locks, and Knox cannot stop me.” He’s so domineering.
I get up from my chair. Go to the window that seems to hear a lot of my troubles. I pause to think what going to him would mean. Very simple I’ll be dancing with danger. It will swirl my whole being in bliss that I know would only be a temporary bliss. If I dance tonight, tomorrow I can wallow in heartbreak. At least this time I’m going in, knowing what comes after. I turned to him.
“Okay, what time.” His face broke into a wide smile.
“Straight after work, don’t go home.”
“Naseer, I’ll need some of my stuff.” He smiles as he comes closer to me. The desire to tear at each other is high.
“Remember when you told me? I was the worst rich boyfriend, who couldn’t buy a place where you could leave stuff and you didn’t have to pack a bag all the time to meet in hotels because you always forget stuff.” I smile, I did say that after forgetting some of my toiletries a couple of times and the hotels didn’t have stuff for my skin or hair texture. A month later he bought a place, in the loop and I met Olamide DeMoore.
“Well, I learned, I have all you need at my place and a closet of clothes, just head straight to my place after work don’t go to your place.”
“Okay, I’ll let Knox know that I won’t be back tonight.” He smiles.
He pulls me into a kiss. I get lost in him when we hear the door open. I pull from the kiss to see Kelan, whose eyes are about to pop out of its socket. Naseer doesn’t look back he continues to hold me and rain kisses on my neck “Naseer.” I mumble. “Kelan is here for our meeting” Then he pulls away.
“See you tonight my love,” he whispers to me. He turns and leaves without acknowledging Kelan.
Kelan’s widened eyes lingered on me as if he was trying to piece together what he’d just seen. Once the door closes, his speech is immediate.
“Mariam you and the prince. I’ll be damned.” He says flabbergasted as he threw his hands up in confusion, giving me a worry look all at the same time.
“It’s not what you think, Kelan.”
“Now I understand why he’s been giving me the nasty look.”
“I’m sorry about that, I already had a word with him.”
“Mariam, I don’t think I like this. I’ve heard about the guy, he was a big-time player, though these days no one knows what he’s up to women-wise, I heard rumors that he visits high-class hookers. I don’t like you getting mixed up with him.” And I don’t like hearing about my husband and hookers from you.
“Let’s get to work, Kelan,” I say to change the subject, but Kelan is like a dog with a bone with his discovery.
“Mariam maybe I can help you out. He already thinks we are having an affair. I can touch you when I see him or try to kiss you, maybe that would make him break things off with you. I know you and Knox are good together. Don’t mess that up with this Prince.”
“Kelan, trust me you don’t know what you think you know, please don’t do any crazy inappropriate stuff. I beg you, please don’t,” I curtly say a bit exasperated with him.
“It will work, Mariam, to get him away from you. I can plant a surprise kiss on you or hug you super tight.”
