“Enter Casey Key Road into the GPS,” he blurted.

Paige’s screams echoed in his head. Not knowing what had happened and if she was okay made cold sweat dampen the collar of his shirt. He swerved around traffic, his thoughts running a mile a minute. Atlas would protect her with his life. Of that he was certain.

The GPS sang out his next turn in a much-too-cheery robotic voice. He followed the directions and got on South Tamiami Trail.

He glanced at the screen. Nine miles until Casey Key Road. Fuck.

Craig might be gone by the time he arrived. He could be driving out of the way for nothing, but unless Paige called—

“You going to tell us what the hell’s happening?” Reaper grumbled from the back seat of the truck.

“Atlas and Paige were on Casey Key Road when they got pulled over. Paige said the cop’s name was Vokle.”

Wraith muttered a heavily accented curse.

“Did you try calling them back?” Havoc asked.

Troy shook his head. “She was screaming when I hung up. The last thing she said was Atlas was being arrested. Something happened.”

His stomach pitched and the guys fell silent, their thoughts likely on the same fast track to destruction as his.

“Reaper, I need you to track Atlas’s phone. Find out his location.”

“Copy.”

Troy stomped on the gas and flew past a line of slow-moving traffic. The minutes ticked by, every second feeling like a goddamn hour. He glanced at Havoc, whose gaze was on his phone. “Did you find out anything about Spencer?”

“Took some digging. He isn’t listed as Craig’s stepbrother in any records—I don’t think Craig’s father ever legally married Spencer’s mom. Either way, his story checks out.”

“Where’s Spencer live?”

“Lookin’ that up right now, boss.”

Troy’s muscles bunched. He clenched the steering wheel as an undertow of rage pulled at his senses. Anger, hot and fucking violent, moved like a red haze over his vision.

“They won’t get away with this. I promise ya.” Wraith’s low baritone was thick with menace.

His good-natured friend had a dark side not many people had seen. If Wraith was left in a room with Craig or Spencer, there’d be nothing left of them afterward.

A sign alerted him that Casey Key Road was up ahead. He pressed the gas pedal to the floor, then slowed at the turn, still taking it too fast. Righting the vehicle, he accelerated again.

“Got a trace on Atlas. It’s showing he’s two miles away.”

Worry compressed his chest. He reached for his phone. Still no call or text from either of them.

“There’s the SUV,” Havoc announced, pointing at the windshield.

He passed a van and hurtled forward, cutting to the side of the road before slowing to a stop behind Striker’s SUV. The black vehicle sat on the shoulder. The sea sparkled in the distance, its beauty a sharp contrast to the atmosphere brewing inside him.

Kicking open the door, he leaped from the truck, his gun locked on the driver’s side of the SUV. His muscles buzzed with tension. Every step of his boots was like a dumbbell dropping on his chest.

He approached the SUV, searching through the windows as best he could through the tint. No movement.

“Striker! Paige! You in there?”

Silence.

He grabbed the driver’s side handle and yanked open the door. Nothing but a steering wheel and paper coffee cups.
