Striker leaned casually against the display case. Beneath the glass was a spread of bongs and pipes. “An unknown number called you last night—one minute before we saw you let Craig in the back.”

“So? I don’t know his number! I swear it! Nor do I know where he lives.” The fear and resignation in William’s eyes told Troy he was speaking the truth.

Havoc stepped forward. “Gimme the phone.”

Striker handed it over, and after a moment of perusing, Havoc took out his own device and snapped a picture of William’s screen. “That’s all we need.”

Fucking beautiful. Havoc had gotten enough information to trace the unknown caller. Craig might think he was invincible, but he was about to be proven wrong.

Troy brought his gaze back to William and his pinned-down hand. “I’ve got a message for Craig if you see him again.”

William blinked in relief. “Uh, ya. Sure. Anything.”

He pulled the trigger. A sharp splat followed by the shattering of glass exploded in the room.

William belted out a scream, but Wraith quickly cut it off by driving his fist into his mouth. “Come on, you eejit. Enough with the hollerin’. You think we want to do this? Feck.”

Troy shrugged. “I do.”

William sank to the ground. Blood poured from his nose and mouth and hand, his body shaking like a leaf.

Troy felt no fucking remorse.

The bastard had helped Craig get to Paige. As far as he was concerned, William was just as evil. If the bastard hadn’t aided and abetted a murderer, they wouldn’t be here right now and Craig would be in jail.

No, he wasn’t one bit sorry about the blood shooting from the man’s mangled hand.

“I suggest you call for help,” Havoc said, shoving his hand into his front pocket. “Oh, and in case you aren’t aware, we weren’t here. I’d be more afraid of us than Craig if I were you.”

Striker stared the man down. “We’ve got what we need. Let’s go.”

“Take care, buddy boy,” Havoc called, leading the way to the door. “We’ll leave the Closed sign up.”

Troy turned to the blubbering mess on the floor. “You tell Craig this is fucking war.”

He breezed across the floor and followed the guys into the heat.

“That wasn’t so hard,” Havoc commented cheerily. “Should we stop at the grocery store and buy something to grill tonight?”

“I noticed you’ve got three steaks already,” Wraith said to Troy. “We can stop and get a few more. Maybe some potato salad and stuff.”

Troy almost laughed at how easily they changed gears. Hell, maybe it was a bad thing they didn’t get hung up on the gruesome parts of their work, but their lifestyle had desensitized them to some degree. “You guys raided my fridge?”

“Just planning ahead,” Havoc said with a shrug. “Though I know there’s never a shortage of food when it comes to you.”

“Well, there is now because I wasn’t expecting four other mouths.”

They piled into the SUV and Havoc drove the short distance to the grocery store. Troy and Striker went inside and picked up more steaks, potato salad, and cucumbers and tomatoes to chop as a side. He also snatched a few bags of chips from the shelf in three different flavors.

“No wonder you’re so hefty,” Striker said with a snort.

Troy shot him a withering look. “Eat a dick.”

“Maybe you should. You’d cut the calories and trans fats.”

He busted out in a laugh. “All right, that was funny. You prick.” They went through the checkout and returned to the vehicle.

Fifteen minutes later, they stepped out of the elevator. Troy punched in the code for the door and entered the rental. Frigid air conditioning hit his face, and he welcomed it. Reaper sat on his ass staring at the TV.
