That’s what happened to my brothers.

They gave who they thought were the loves of their lives a second chance. Those girls ruined those chances. Ruined my strong, honorable brothers. The men I look up to. Now, they’re bitter. Love isn’t in the cards for them. Work is their life, but how long can they keep up the endless pace of making more money than they’ll ever need, while keeping the mindset of loving and leaving them?

These casual hookups have got to leave them empty. That’s why I stopped my sophomore year. Except when I see Cooper with Arie. Then my mind goes to shit, and my body demands I do something about the jealousy and regret that boil my blood. It’s either screw a coed until her body shakes and her eyes roll back in her head, or pummel Cooper into a bloody mess. It should be me that Arie moans and orgasms for, rather than my high school rival and DU’s star kicker.

“Riot?”

Arie’s worry brings me back to the present.

“Yes, babe?” My voice sounds far away.

“Are you okay?” She’s concerned.

I blink, and the present hits me like a movie going from mute to full blast. Crap, I’ve shown her too much of me.

“Why wouldn’t I be?” I cross my arms over my chest, like they’re shields over my heart. Being vulnerable doesn’t come easy. Not after what happened with Arie. Now we have a second chance, and I won’t make the mistake of sharing my whole life with her again.

“You looked really angry.”

“Just thinking.”

“About what?”

“Nothing, Arie.” I smooth out the lines on her forehead. “Now where were we?”

“Um, you were dirty talking me and,” she shrugs a shoulder, “I shouldn’t like it, but I do. You’re so crass.” She gives me a closed-mouth smile that stirs my junk from its quick slumber.

“Want me to continue?”

She shrugs the other shoulder. “Only if you want to,” she says in this soft, meek voice that gets me hard.

“Oh, I do, baby,” I reply in a low, throaty tone.

Her pretty brown eyes widen. She licks her lips. I groan, and it’s loud. The corners of her mouth curve. I go in for the kill.

“Will you give me a taste of those?” I jerk my chin at her rack. “Or should we start down there?” I dip my attention to the place between her legs. She would taste sweet, musky on my tongue.

Her face reddens. She visibly swallows. Her chest goes up and down with her rapid breathing, drawing my eyes to the outlines of her perfect, round breasts beneath her shirt.

Her fingers swipe the strands of hair that stick to her face. Beads of sweat line her upper lip. Leaning in close, not sure her baseball cap gives us privacy, I shield us from curious eyes with my large palm and lick the beads clinging to her heated flesh from one corner of her lip to the other, then linger on her Cupid’s bow.

“Yum,” I hum in the back of my throat. “You taste delish, babe.”

Her dreamy expression disappears. Her eyes widen, then narrow. “Remove that word from your vocabulary, bucko.”

“Bucko?” I smile. “First butthurt, now bucko?” I whoop with laughter. “Yet you want me to strike delish from my vocabulary? You are something else.” I collar her around the neck and rub my knuckle over the top of her baseball cap.

“You’re unbelievable,” she sputters but doesn’t spin out of my hold.

Liking the smile in her voice, happier than I’ve been in a long time, I bring us back to the subject at hand. Her. Me. “You want me. Admit it.”

I let her go. She does the unexpected. She turns and sprints to the front of the field. Or is it the back? I shake my head. Wherever I’ve parked my truck, that’s where she’s heading. Uh-uh. I hold the reins. Or I think I do. I test what we had. Have. What we have.

I cup my hand over my mouth. “Red light!”

She stops in her tracks. Red light, green light. Another game we played. Chuckling, my dick perpetually hard whenever I think about the games we’d played and are playing again, I jog awkwardly toward her. Thank fuck, my beast softens by the time I’m standing in front of her.

Arie opens her mouth, then closes it. I zone in on her cute Cupid’s bow. I am obsessed with that little divot. She clamps her hand over her luscious lips. Smirking, I close the small gap between us.
