I should’ve brought up the note. Instead, I took the chickenshit way out and played one of our games. Confrontation isn’t my thing. That’s my older brothers’ specialty.

They live for confrontation, taking the brunt of our neighborhood’s roughness and owning it to the point that the O’Sullivan name became synonymous with violent paybacks, leaving me untouched and unharmed so I could play rugby at the highest level and be the first in our family to get a college degree.

I cup my hand over my mouth. “Hey, water girl! Get your ass over here. Your shift isn’t over until I say so!”

She glares, then says something to Cooper. Then they do something that makes me see red and grit my teeth. They hug. Not the buddy-buddy kind, but the kind where he wraps her in his arms, presses his face into her hair, and she rubs her face against his shirt, over the spot above his heart.

I chuck the bottled water into the recycling bin. I’m gonna have words with those two about the damn PDAs and tell them to stop, effective immediately.

Arie jogs over, her brows drawn low. Her ponytail swings, and I have the sudden urge to curl my fingers around the onyx strands, yank her head to the side, and slam my mouth over hers in a possessive, hungry kiss that will show the lingering girls in the stands and my teammates that Arie Kim is my girl.

Except I can’t. I made an agreement with Cooper, and I plan to stick to it. I’ll show Arie that I keep my word, unlike what happened with Bella, which started the hate between Arie and me and caused trouble to brew between our brothers.

I should’ve kept my word and not been alone with Bella. Arie said Bella had the hots for me. I didn’t believe her. The three of us hung out all the time, and I never led Bella on. I never saw her as anything more than a friend. I treated her like a sister. She never gave me any clues that she felt more for me.

Until I slipped up. I was alone with Bella, and she’d grabbed me, her hands on the sides of my face, pulled me down, and slammed her mouth over mine. Then came the gasp, full of hurt, that made me shove Bella away. The tears in Arie’s eyes . . . My world came crashing down, and it hasn’t been the same since.

“You did.” She stands tall, arms crossed, neck craned as she looks up at me. “You told me practice was over.”

I tsk and peer down my nose at her. She’s tiny, her head barely reaching my chest. “Practice is not your shift.”

“There’s a difference?” She sets her hands on her hips. “I thought Xander was the captain and called the shots.” She tips up the cap’s bill and stares at me, confused. “Why are you giving me orders?”

“Because Xander gave me oversight of you.” I bop her nose, and her eyes cross. Smiling, I pull her into a hug, unable to resist how cute she is. Arie squirms out of my arms and skitters back.

“Ease up on the PDAs!” She takes a few more steps away, leaving too much room between us.

I don’t like the space. I like when she’s near. Like the body heat wafting from her. Like her sweet scent, a mix of her perfume and her. Like her near enough that I can pull her into my arms and press a kiss to the top of her head.

“Ease up on the PDAs?” I cock a brow. “You’ve been hanging around the guys too much, but I like it. I like when you speak our speak. Like when you’re turned on.” I march toward her.

“Don’t you dare come any closer.” She glances over her shoulder at the field’s entrance, then returns her attention to me and points a finger.

I smirk. “Good luck with that, sweetheart. We’re a ways away, you have short legs, and I have the added advantage.” I gesture to my long legs.

She stares, her mouth parting, like she finds my hairy legs sexy or something, and nearly falls over, tripping over her feet. I reach for her, but I can’t get to her even at lightning speed; she’s not close enough. But I’ll be damned if she hurts herself because of me.

“Wait for me, Arie,” I plead in a low, gravelly tone.

She shakes her head. “I can’t. You’re on to me.” Her voice falls into desperation, but I’m not done with her.

“You mean with how turned on you are?” I cock my head to the side and lift a brow.

“With how much faster you are than me, and for the record, I am not turned on!” she growls.

“I beg to differ.” I stalk after her. “Why are your cheeks flushed? Why are you out of breath?”

She stutters to a stop. “I am not out of breath. And my cheeks,” she presses her knuckles to them, “are hot because it’s freaking hot out here.” She glowers. “So, naturally, they would be hot!”

“That’s a lot of hot going around, hotness.” I run my gaze from her flushed cheeks to her mouth. My attention hangs on her full lips. I’d tug her bottom lip into my mouth with my teeth, before running the tip of my tongue along the seams, just to see her brown eyes darken with desire. Then, I would hungrily claim her sweet mouth with mine. She’d give in with a soft sigh that would have my dick crowding my shorts.

“Riot, please. Save it for later.” Her gaze darts around the field. It’s emptying.

Closing the space between us, I lean in. “Like at night, later?” I say near her cute ear. She sneaks into my room after the lights go out and curfew starts. “Save it for later, like me eating you out and you fisting my boner and sucking the life from me through my dick, later? Or me on my knees worshipping your sweet cunt in the shower later? You on your hands and knees and me pounding your tight pussy, later? I can go on and on, Arie. Be clear what ‘save it for later’ means to you, baby.”

I want to do all those things to her. For her to do those things to me.

Biting on my lower lip, preventing the groan that will be loud as fuck from slipping from my mouth, I stare at hers. The dip of her cute Cupid’s bow calls to me. I want to tongue that little divot. Rub the head of my cock over it before I slide my cock in her mouth. She would suck me off so hard that I’ll forget my name. Forget that this girl could break my heart and leave me a mess for other girls for the rest of my life.
