Tyson crosses the kitchen in three long strides, stopping right in front of me, close enough that I can feel the leftover heat of whatever he just did.

“You, okay?” he asks, voice low, rough, meant only for me.

I hear Lisa scoff, again, making my lips twitch. I lift my chin.

“I’m fine, handsome.” My hand rests on his chest.

Tyson’s gaze flicks to Lisa. One sharp, warning glance, and she goes pale. She mutters something under her breath and storms out, heels snapping like gunshots.

When she’s gone, Tyson exhales, shoulders dropping just a fraction.

“Sorry,” he murmurs. “Fucking hated to leave you like that, all ready and needy for me.”

“I get it. A job is a job.”

His jaw works, her gaze bounces between mine, like he is trying to work out how to explain shit it me. his eyes go black, with the gold ring, and I inhale sharply, leaning my head back to get a clear view of his handsome face.

A shadow pulls from his back, then snaps back.

Supernatural. I knew it.

“Ty… what are you?”

He looks at me like he’s deciding whether to lie or tell me the truth.

And for the first time since he left me in that bed, I’m not scared of the answer.

I’m ready for it.

CHAPTER ELEVEN

Tyson

“Ty… what are you?”

“Ty… what are you?”

“Ty… what are you?”

Her question bounces around my head, while I walk her back to my room.

Kristina doesn’t seem scared, just nervous, and curious.

Once we are locked inside, I remove my cut, hanging it on the hook on the back of the door.

“Get comfortable babe, this will be a fucking story for the ages.” I tell her.

Kicking my boots off, I watch a she slips her feet out of her sneakers, and climbs onto the bed giving me a magnificent view of her ass. Her back rests against the headboard, her gaze on me as I plant my ass on the only other chair in the room.

“What do you know about the supernatural?” I ask her.

She shrugs. “It covers a large variety of things, from Fae to shifters, vampires and demons. I have watched some TV shows that give you some insight into the world. Plus I read.” Her cheeks tint pink.

“Read?” I smirk, cocking a brow at her.

“Yes, read.” She huffs, making me smile wider. “I read paranormal romance books okay. So I know some stuff.”

I nod. “Okay, do you know about Reapers?”
