“No, pumpkin, you are fucking strong,” he said and grinned. “I’ve seen Gunner tear one of those bags up, and Chaos, but never a demi-demon.” He pressed his forehead to hers. “And the night we mated, when you shoved me down and I hit the mattress, I kind of forgot about it after, but I felt that strength, Ky.”

The pulse at her throat fluttered, and her hands flexed at his biceps. “I thought powers were different than that. None of the other mates have a physical power, right?”

“No, but there are a lot of demi out there with different types of physical powers.” Rocco was more than a little happy about this revelation. Kyler would be able to protect herself if any demon tried to come after her again. Shit, after what he just saw, she could punch a hole right through one of the assholes. “Now we know how to train you. We’ll learn what you can do, and we’ll hone it until it becomes second nature.”

“So this really is a good thing?” she said.

“Yeah, it really is.”

Luna poked her head around the door, Gunner behind her. “Sorry to interrupt, I just wanted to make sure Ky was okay.”

Kyler looked around Rocco’s shoulder and smiled at the other female. “God, I’m sorry. I must’ve scared the hell out of you.”

“No, I’m the one who’s sorry. I shouldn’t have told you to try boxing, I just thought…I wanted to help.”

Roc stood and put Kyler on her feet, then grinned at Luna and his brother. Gunner was rubbing his mate’s shoulders, trying to comfort her because she was feeling crappy over Kyler losing it.

“You did help,” he said, his heart expanding when Kyler pressed into his side, seeking his touch again. “You helped Ky find her power.” His gaze went to Gunner, who was eyeing the spent bag, and there was no missing the shock in his gaze. “You in to help train Ky?”

“Of course,” Gun said and grinned, then turned that grin on Kyler. “Fucking pleased for you, Ky.”

They talked for a while, discussing how they were going to train Kyler, then Gun and Luna left.

Roc turned into Kyler, and she wrapped her arms around his waist. He dipped his head and looked deep into her blue eyes. “Promise me you won’t keep how you’re feeling from me again?”

“I promise,” she said and pressed her hands to his chest. “And I want you to promise me the same.”

“You got it,” he said. “As time goes on, we’ll feel it. I’ll know if something’s bothering you.”

“You will?”

He brushed his thumb over her cheek. “Yeah, that’s why Gunner knew to come down here. Luna was worried, probably scared, and going by what she said, feeling some guilt at putting you in front of that punching bag. Gunner would have felt that and come looking for her. That’s how the connection we have works, and the longer we’re mated, the stronger that gets.”

“I like that.”

Rocco grinned. “Me too. But seeing as we aren’t there yet, I should probably tell you how I’m feeling right now?”

“Sounds good,” she said, not missing his grin and giving him one back.

“I’m feeling like kissing my mate, a lot, and then getting naked with her and letting her work out some of that anger she’s feeling in a more enjoyable way.”

She nodded, giving him a mock serious expression, lips pursed. “I’m glad you felt you could share that with me.”

Roc nodded and shrugged. “You know, all in the name of honesty and shit. I’m just that kind of guy.”

“You are, you really are. Now would you like to know how I’m feeling?” she asked, and there was a husky undertone to her voice that made him even more desperate to kiss her.

“Of course. Sharing is caring and all that.”

She bit her lips together, obviously trying to stop herself from laughing, then cleared her throat. “I’m feeling like being kissed, a lot.”

“You are?”

“Yes.”

“Okay, so far so good.”

“I know, right?”
