Rocco crossed his arms. “Not trying to piss you off, brother, believe me, but this is important. What Willow has could help me get my female back.”
Warrick stared him down. “She’s resting.”
Willow appeared at the clubhouse door behind him and, scowling, strode forward.
Warrick sensed her instantly and turned. “Get the fuck back to bed.”
She flipped off the alpha, her wild red hair flying around her as she marched up to the gate. “Don’t you dare pull that shit with me, Warrick.”
“You’re still recovering,” he growled, intercepting her when she reached for the gate.
“I’m fine. More than fine.” She stared up at him. “Now get out of my way.”
A rumbling growl vibrated from him. “I can still smell your blood.”
“It’s superficial, and you know it,” she said, then stepped around him and opened the gate.
Warrick watched her, fury in his dark eyes, biceps flexing, veins in his forearm bulging. “Dove,” he said, low and rough.
She paused and turned back to the male. “You need to back off, I’m serious…and stop calling me that.” She blew out a breath. “I can’t do this with you, not right now.”
Warrick stared at her hard for several long seconds, then with a snarl, he turned and strode back to the clubhouse.
The loud bang of the door crashing shut, then hitting the ground when it snapped off its hinges, echoed around the lot a moment later.
Willow turned to Rocco and patted the satchel slung across her chest. “I have what we need.”
“Warrick agreed to help?”
“No, despite what you think, Warrick and I have never been and will never be lovers.” She glanced back at the gaping doorway he’d stomped through. “Someone else helped me…one of their human groupies. Don’t ask. It was actually the claws and teeth that were the hardest to acquire. Getting to their fighting pit took some doing, but I got there in the end, and as I suspected there were teeth and claws scattered everywhere, the brawling idiots.”
Rocco motioned to her wrist. “New ink?” There was a swirling design poking out from her sleeve that hadn’t been there when he’d last seen her.
She glanced down at it, then back at him. “Ah…yeah, something like that.”
The design glowed slightly when she spoke. So yeah, he’d say it was definitely more than your standard tattoo. But unless she wanted to share, it was also none of his business.
“Ready?”
She nodded, and Rocco pulled off his shirt, tucked it in the back of his pants, and scooped her up, his wings snapping into place. That’s when the scent of her blood hit him. “Are you sure you’re up to this? You’re wounded, I can smell it, and you look tired.”
She sighed. “God, not you as well. Honestly, I’m fine. I needed to do a ritual. It was time-consuming and some of my blood was necessary. It’s just a cut. I’m all good. I assure you I haven’t lost a limb or anything.”
“If you’re sure?”
“More than sure.” She gave him a sidelong look. “I’d rather talk about you. You’ve been eating, obviously training this last week?”
“Yeah.” He wasn’t back to full strength, but he’d gained some muscle. Gunner was forcing him to eat every fucking thirty minutes, and they’d been training almost constantly.
Thankfully, being immortal meant he bounced back a hell of a lot faster.
“Glad to hear it. Now let’s get out of here. Vorena agreed to meet again, but if we’re late, she’ll use it as an excuse to renege on our deal.”
No way was that going to happen. Rocco shot into the sky. Nothing and no one would stop him from getting to Kyler, not this time.

An hour later, bloody and battered, Rocco landed outside Willow’s shop.
