“Hope!” Eden rushed forward, and Ty opened the door wider to let Hope in. She hadn’t realized how much she’d missed her sister until now, and she pulled her into a tight embrace.
Hope hugged her just as tightly, while Ty shut the door and hovered nearby.
“I was so worried about you! Especially when you didn’t answer my calls yesterday,” Hope said in a rush. “I know Patrick was here, and I was afraid something horrible happened.” Then she turned to Ty. “Thank God Cole was here with you!”
Hope obviously assumed Ty was Cole, but before Eden could correct her, Cole cleared his throat from the top of the stairs.
Hope’s gaze shifted to Cole and then back to Ty, her eyes narrowing with confusion.
Cole came downstairs, stood before Hope, and stuck out his hand. “I’m Cole. It’s nice to meet you.”
Hope blinked a few times as she shook his hand. Then she turned to Ty. “So, who are you?”
Ty smiled. “I’m his younger brother, Tyler.” He extended his hand, and Hope slowly reached out and shook it. “I’m also a fireman, by the way.”
Eden laughed, and Cole shook his head. “Smooth,” he muttered.
Hope and Ty shook hands for longer than was usual, and then she finally let go. “Well, this is cozy. I didn’t know my sister was cohabitating with two brothers.”
Ty smirked. “I just got here an hour ago. I surprised the two of them just like you did.”
Eden reached out and rubbed her sister’s arm. “But it’s the best surprise.”
Hope turned to her again. “Are you sure you’re okay? What happened with Patrick? Why didn’t you answer your phone?”
Ty chuckled behind his hand, and Cole scowled at him.
“Yes, I’m fine. I’ll tell you everything, but first, I’d like to get dressed,” Eden said, looking down at her bare feet.
“I’ll come with you so we can talk,” Hope said, brooking no argument.
Cole clapped Ty on the back, hard enough that it made a loud sound. “We’ll go to the leasing office and give you ladies some time alone.”
“The leasing office?” Hope said, knitting her eyebrows.
Eden smiled. “I’ll explain.”
“Be back in a little while,” Cole said. Then he leaned in and kissed Eden’s cheek before pushing Ty out the door.
Hope glanced around the cabin. “You didn’t tell me how beautiful this place is.”
“You haven’t given me a chance. Follow me, and I’ll show you my bedroom.”
They went into her room, and Hope peered around at the knotty pine furniture and scenic mountain paintings on the walls. “It’s gorgeous.”
The bed was still made from the day before, and Hope looked at her knowingly. “Are you two together now?”
“I guess you could say that.”
Hope smiled. “Yay! He’s really hot, by the way!”
“Cole or Ty?”
“Both!”
“I knew you’d think so, especially Ty.”
“I’ve always had a thing for men in uniform.”
