It was hard to believe that was just yesterday. So much had happened since then. “I thought you’d like them.”

“I would hop on a plane and join you right now if I could.”

Eden smiled, thinking how much she’d love that.

“Who took that picture of you on the rock?”

Her smile fell. “Cole.”

“Did you go hiking together?”

Hope’s voice had a singsong quality that Eden loved, but it didn’t seem fitting in this instance. “Yes, but I doubt it will happen again.”

“Why not?”

Eden sighed. “Do you have time for this?”

“Absolutely. It’s Saturday.”

Since she’d been here, the days were blending together, and she’d forgotten it was the weekend. That begged the question: did Cole usually work on Saturdays, or was he trying to avoid her, too?

“Eden, are you still there?”

“Yes, sorry. I’m still waking up.”

“You don’t sound like yourself. What’s going on?”

Eden relayed the events of yesterday, including last night, leaving nothing out. Hope listened without interruption until she paused to take a breath.

“Wow! It’s hard to believe that all happened in one day.”

“I know.”

“What are you going to do?”

“According to Cole, we should just forget it ever happened.”

“I meant about Patrick,” Hope said.

“Oh.” Surprisingly, she’d barely given Patrick a thought this morning.

“Are you going to call him?”

“I don’t see why I should.”

“I agree.”

“So does Cole.”

“Which brings me to my next question. Was he a good kisser?”

“Hope.”

“Sorry, but I’m dying to know.”

Images flashed through her mind of Cole coming out of the bathroom in his underwear, his lean body sprawled out on her bed, and him cupping her face as he kissed her. “Yes. He was very good.”

“Now I’m even more jealous!”
