“Well, yeah. I thought it sounded better than Harbor Springs. No offense.”

“None taken.” Beth knew that her sisters loved it here as much as she did and that Becca was just being Becca.

“After that, they walked away, and Richard and I left the restaurant.”

“You didn’t say how he looked,” Beth reminded her. She didn’t dare ask about his date. There was only so much she could take.

“Beth. Don’t do this to yourself.”

“Do what?”

“Torture yourself with what might have been. Let it go.”

“Have you been watching Frozen again?” Beth teased, pleasantly surprised that she was able to joke about it. She wouldn’t have done so a few months ago.

“Very funny. He looked the same. Handsome in that buttoned-up, mamma’s boy sort of way.”

“Really? That’s how you think of him?”

“Well, isn’t he?”

“Sort of, I guess.” Honestly, Beth had never thought of him like that. Of course, she’d never thought he’d do what he’d done to her either. Just goes to show, you never truly knew a person.

“Anyway, enough of that. Just forget about him and concentrate on getting to know the hot dad next door.”

Beth shook her head even though her sister couldn’t see it. No matter how interesting or attractive Colton was, she’d never be able to trust her heart again, with him or any other man.
