He sucked on the sensitive skin of her neck, but not too hard because he didn’t want to leave a mark. Even though she was fully on board with this now, she might not be too keen to have evidence of it later. Then he nuzzled her earlobe, which caused her to shudder.

“Beck…”

“Hmm?”

“We shouldn’t be doing this.”

“Why not?”

He continued nibbling on her earlobe, hoping to distract her.

“Because it feels too good.”

He chuckled gruffly. “Is there such a thing?”

“Yes!”

“Do you want me to stop?”

“Yes,” she said half-heartedly.

He stopped and took a step back, but she looked up at him and shook her head. “I take it back. Don’t stop.”

Smiling, he traced the outline of her lips, which were swollen from all their kissing.

“Maybe I should.”

Her face fell. “You’re joking, right?”

He was still holding her around the waist, his arousal pressing into her stomach, but he shook his head.

“It’s probably best if we stop now so you don’t end up regretting this.”

“I might regret it anyway,” she said, some of her snark slipping back in.

He reluctantly let go of her. “That’s just it. I don’t want to give you any more reason to hate me.”

“Hate is a strong word.”

“Call it whatever you want, but I’m not interested in revenge sex.”

“Who said anything about us having sex?” she said and crossed her arms over her breasts.

She’d become defensive again, and he could practically see her walls go back up. However, he was tired of playing games and pretending they didn’t still want each other.

“So, did you get your answer? Am I still a good kisser?”

“Passable.”

He burst out laughing at the outright lie. There was no way he’d misread the way her body had responded to his.

“So, you have no interest in kissing me again?”

“Uh-uh,” she said, averting her eyes.

“Okay, then. I guess that’s that.”

“Yep.”
