To get there, they’d have to cross in front of the window. While he occasionally made a “mad dash” through the house naked, especially if he needed something from the laundry room, he wouldn’t call himself an exhibitionist.

Like she often reminded him, he was still in excellent shape, and he wasn’t ashamed of his nakedness. However, making love in front of a large picture window with the curtains open was a bit…

“What are you waiting for?” she asked, her excitement palpable.

“Nothing. Just making sure you don’t want to go into the bedroom.”

“Nope.”

“Okay, then.”

With that, he sauntered across the room, averting his gaze from the window, and quickly sat down on the couch.

She laughed as she glided toward him, seemingly in no hurry and unconcerned about the possibility of being seen.

At least I live on a cul-de-sac. Plus, it’s late. Most of my neighbors are older, and they’re probably asleep by now.

While he was giving himself the pep talk, she straddled him and reached for his erection.

“See? Isn’t this fun?” she said.

He couldn’t resist. “Fun is a vacation in the Bahamas. Fun is curling up on the couch with a fresh cup of coffee and a good book. Fun is visiting the cider mill in the fall, which I want to do, by the way. But this…”

Recognizing her own words, she rolled her eyes at him.

“If this isn’t fun, what would you call it?” she asked, expertly stroking him with her silky, smooth hands.

“Amazing, spectacular, phenomenal. Should I continue?”

She shook her head. Then she leaned forward, pressing her breasts against his chest and kissed him.

It reminded him of that night in her kitchen, but it was even better. She kissed him fearlessly and feverishly, like she couldn’t get enough of him, and he responded in kind.

He considered slowing things down, but it was too late. He was already so revved up he couldn’t stop even if he wanted to, which he didn’t.

Supporting her with one arm around her waist, he slipped his other hand between her legs and found her slippery with desire.

He would have been happy to pleasure her with his hand, but apparently, she had other ideas. She suddenly came up on her knees and guided his erection toward her opening. While it was tempting and unbelievably sexy, his common sense kicked in.

“Wait,” he said, almost apologetically. “I need a condom.”

“Are you sure?”

It wasn’t the response he’d expected. “Pretty sure, unless you have the ability to see into the future and know that you won’t get pregnant.”

She scrunched up her nose. “I don’t know that for sure, but…”

“But what?”

“Based on my cycle, this is a safe time of the month. So…if you want to…”

“Risk it?”

“Unless you’d rather not.”

He thought about all the risks they’d taken recently, starting with him moving back here and her opening her heart to him again. Was this her way of proving that she trusted him now? Maybe she wasn’t afraid to get pregnant because she believed he’d be there for her if she did. Hell, he’d probably be more excited about it than she would, though he had no doubt she’d be an excellent mother. Still, he wanted to make sure he was on the right track.

“No matter what happens, we’re in this together, right?”

“Yes.”

“Forever.”

“Always.”

“No regrets.”

“None whatsoever.”

Unable to think of any more disclaimers, he said, “Okay, then.”

The smile she gave him lit up the entire room, but not enough that anyone could see them, or so he told himself.

Soon they were as close as they could possibly be, their bodies finding a familiar yet no less exciting rhythm that belonged to them alone, with only the moon as their witness.
