“You got a raise,” Paige said.

“I wish.”

“What is it, then?” Kelsey implored.

Stacy told them about her new trainee and waited for their reactions.

“I wonder if he purses his lips like Fran,” Paige mused.

“Ew. A guy version of Fran. I can’t picture it,” Kelsey said.

Stacy laughed. “He’s not her son. He’s her nephew.”

“He could still have some of her traits.”

“How old is he?” Paige asked.

Stacy braced herself. “Twenty-seven.”

“Ohhh. A younger man, huh?”

“This has nothing to do with the book we’re reading.”

“It’s kind of a strange coincidence, though, don’t you think?” Kelsey said.

Stacy shook her head. “It doesn’t matter how old he is. He’s my boss’s nephew. He could look like Brad Pitt, and I still wouldn’t care.”

“The younger Brad Pitt or the current one?” Paige teased.

“The younger one, for sure,” Kelsey piped in. “Remember him in Legends of the Fall?”

“Yes, since you made me watch it like ten times!” Stacy said.

“Oh, and that was a real hardship.”

“What about Troy? I liked him in that too,” Paige said.

“Okay. Can we get back to reality, please? Fran’s nephew is not a young Brad Pitt, a current Chris Hemsworth, or—”

“What about Zac Efron? How old is he these days?” Kelsey said.

Paige picked up her phone and started tapping. “Ohmigod. Zac is already thirty-two years old. When did that happen?”

“That’s not old!” Stacy said. “I’m going to be thirty-six soon.”

“Not for three more months,” Kelsey argued.

“Can I get you ladies another drink?” the waiter said, sidling up to their table.

“Can I ask you something?” Kelsey said, smiling up at him.

“Sure.”

“How old would you guess we are?”

Stacy kicked her under the table.

“Ouch!”
