The feeling of skin on skin was exquisite, and soon they were rocking against each other in earnest. He continued to fondle her breasts while she searched for and found the perfect rhythm to satisfy them both.
She was small in comparison to this big, powerful man, but she felt powerful too when she saw the look in his eyes. He’d given her so much, and now she was giving back, fully and without hesitation.
“Gonna come,” he soon ground out.
She had a split second to alter their course, but instead, she nodded, and they came together, loudly and enthusiastically.
Afterward she collapsed atop him and stayed there until their muscles relaxed and their breathing returned to normal.
“I love you. Is it okay to say that after we just had sex?”
She laughed. “Of course. Why not?”
“I read somewhere that you’re not supposed to say those words during or after sex because the woman might think you were only saying it because of sex.”
“Where’d you read that?”
“Some men’s magazine.”
“Hmm. Well, I disagree. I don’t think there’s ever a bad time to say those words.”
His arms were around her waist, and he gave her a squeeze.
“I love you too. And I’m not just saying that because of the amazing sex.”
He grinned. “We are pretty good together, aren’t we?”
“We are.” She nestled her head against his chest and inhaled his masculine scent.
“I hope you know that if you got pregnant, I’d accept full responsibility. It wouldn’t scare me away.”
“I don’t doubt that, but I’m really not worried. Next week will be a different story, though. We might want to use protection then unless you’re ready to be a dad.”
He chuckled. “Maybe not right now, but I do want kids someday. Do you?”
“Absolutely.” She could easily picture Sam as a father, and the image of him running around the backyard with a child or two and the dogs made her smile.
“How many?” He asked as he idly played with her hair.
“How many kids?”
“Yeah.”
“I’m not sure. Two or three?” Were they really having this discussion right now? A few months ago, she wouldn’t have believed she’d be in this position—literally. She hadn’t even considered being in a relationship, let alone talking about having children. But it felt natural, and more than that, she was excited at the prospect.
“Is this conversation freaking you out?” he asked, looking concerned.
She reached out and cupped his face. “Surprisingly, no.”
He gave her another squeeze. “Promise me something.”
“Okay.”
“If you ever feel like things are moving too fast, you’ll let me know.”
She shook her head. “Too fast? I feel like I’m finally alive again after hiding in the dark for a very long time. If anything, I’m upset I wasted so much time trying to keep you at bay.”
He chuckled. “Trying is the operative word. I was pretty persistent.”
