By the time he was halfway into his second drink, he was starting to feel a pleasant buzz, or maybe it was the result of Morgan’s leg rubbing against his beneath the table. He attributed it to the cramped quarters, but then she set her hand on his thigh, and he knew that was no accident.

Morgan, Maria, and Matt continued talking while Morgan’s hand slowly inched higher up his leg. He suddenly felt unbearably warm, and a bead of sweat trickled down his back.

Does she realize what she’s doing? He was afraid to move too much and give her away, but it was becoming difficult to sit still.

Finally, he decided to give her a taste of her own medicine. He slowly reached out his left hand and placed it on her bare knee. To her credit, she kept talking and didn’t so much as glance in his direction. Oh, she’s good.

Maria was too busy staring at Matt’s profile to notice anything else, so Gabe slid his hand underneath the hem of Morgan’s skirt.

He picked up his drink with his free hand and smiled at the thought that they were getting away with something.

Matt was telling a work story that held both women rapt, so he moved his hand up further. The skin on her inner thighs was soft and warm, and he had a flashback of earlier, when his head had been buried between them. Just a little further, and he’d reach the bull’s eye, but then the waitress arrived with their food, and they both pulled their hands away.

After they’d finished eating, Morgan stood up. “I’m off to the restroom. Be right back.”

“I’ll go with you,” Gabe said.

“Usually, women go together,” Maria teased, yet she hadn’t budged. Gabe gathered that she didn’t want to be away from Matt for one second, not even to pee. He couldn’t really blame her, because he was feeling the same way about Morgan.

“We’ll be right back,” Morgan corrected.

He followed her to the back of the restaurant and down a long, dimly lit hall to the restrooms. Then he placed his hand on her arm and tugged her back against the wall.

“What are you doing?” she whisper-hissed.

“Why don’t we get out of here?”

“That sounds like a cheesy pick-up line.”

He chuckled and glanced nervously back down the hall. “I want to be alone with you.”

“We’re supposed to be getting to know Matt.”

“I feel like I know him already. Besides, Maria can’t take her eyes off him. She’ll probably be glad if we leave.”

“She’s the one who invited us here,” Morgan argued, looking more amused than angry.

“Tell me you don’t want to be alone with me, and we’ll go back out there and listen to some more boring work stories.”

“They weren’t boring. If you’d been paying attention…”

“It was kind of hard with your hand on my leg!”

“Well, what about you? You practically touched my…”

Just then, two women started coming down the hall, and he and Morgan stopped talking until they’d passed.

“I’ll do whatever you want. Just tell me,” he said.

“I want to be alone with you too, but you have to be the one to tell them.”

“Done.”

He started to tug her back the way they’d come, but she resisted.

“Now what?”

“I actually have to pee!”
