“Are you cold?”

“No.”

His eyes flicked over her, and she felt her nipples pucker. It was his fault for staring at her like that.

“Why don’t we sit down and talk while we dry off?”

“I think you should take me home now.”

“Why?”

“What’s with all the questions?”

“Something’s bothering you, and I want to know what it is. If you tell me, I’ll give you the cover-up and take you home. Although, why do they call it a cover-up when you can see right through it?”

He was gazing at her, eyebrows raised, lips twitching, and she couldn’t help it. The next thing she knew, they were smiling stupidly at each other.

“That’s better,” he said.

“Can I have my cover-up now?”

“No. Have a seat.” He plopped down on the closest chair and motioned to the one beside it.

“You’re not my boss right now. We’re off the clock.”

“Good thing, because I wouldn’t be able to work with you in that bathing suit.”

Her nipples hardened even more, if that were possible, and she quickly crossed her arms over her chest and plunked down in the chair. “Right there. That’s the problem.”

“What is?” he asked, adopting an innocent expression.

“You’re flirting with me, and you shouldn’t be. In fact, I shouldn’t even be here right now. I should have gone out with Maria and Mark.”

“You mean Mike.”

“Or is it Matt? Whatever. The point is…”

“You’re right. I shouldn’t have flirted with you. I’m sorry.”

She was surprised he’d admitted it so quickly, even though he wasn’t solely to blame.

“I’m guilty too. I shouldn’t have chased you around the pool like that.”

“I enjoyed it.”

“So did I until…”

She looked down at her damp swimsuit, thinking how contradictory it was talking about how they shouldn’t be flirting when they barely had any clothes on.

“Until what, Morgan?”

She met his eyes and sighed. “Until I realized that it was wrong. We have to work together for the next few months, and if your employees get a sense that…well, that…”

“We’re being too friendly with each other?”

“Imagine what they’ll say. They already think I’m getting special treatment as it is.”

He nodded, his smile rapidly disappearing.
