JARED
I have wanted her for so goddamn long. And I will do anything to keep her. If I have her love and her support, I don’t care what the rest of our relationship looks like. She has so much love to give that it makes sense for her to be this way.
I haven’t touched or even thought about entertaining another woman since our night in the office at the Cat. I guess I knew that once I had her, I would never let go. That’s why it took me so long to pull the trigger. I knew she would pull me in and sink her hooks so far down that there would be no escaping her. And that’s everything I’ve ever wanted. Her. It’s her.
It’s strange. I never thought that having one person to explore would be as fun and enticing as having different pussy every night. Fuck was I wrong. Exploring her has been nothing but euphoric. Poetic. She makes everything better. And fun. She’s addictive—intoxicating.
She has an attitude from hell. She’s hyper independent. She will put you in your place every time. But she’s soft, and she needs to be handled gently. She needs steadiness and consistency. Bringing Cam in disrupts that. If he flakes, if he hurts her, I’ll kill him without a second thought.
But right now, she is happy, in turn making me happier than I have ever been.
“What are the logistics of this? How does this work?” Cam asks.
“Do we have to figure that out right now?” I tease, and he smirks. Micky’s quieter than usual. “Micky, what’s up?” I ask, looking past Cam and Indy.
“I don’t know,” he admits.
“Mik, this doesn’t change anything. I always come back, right?” Indy says, and Micky nods. “I’m not leaving you. I’ll never leave you.” She sighs. “Mik, who has the key?”
He nods. “Yeah.”
With a look of adoration, she smiles at him. “That’s right.”
Cam looks at me in confusion. All I can do is shrug. He’ll figure it out. I had to navigate their interesting relationship. Mik found her as a safe space, and she’s not going to let him down.
She reaches out for my hand and pulls it into her lap. My arm rests over Cam’s leg, and we both tense.
“You’re going to have to get used to it,” she mumbles into his chest.
“Used to what, sweet girl?” I ask, squeezing her hand, forcing my arm to relax.
“Proximity with each other. I’m not dividing my time between you.”
Her words seem to relax Cam under her as well as answer a very big logistical question. I’m not sure he understands exactly what that means yet.
We sit in silence for a while until she says, “I need to get out of this shit.” She stands, lifting off of Cam’s lap. He lets a groan slip, but I can’t blame him. I know what she does to me.
Chuckling, I stand and say, “It’s still early—want to head to the Cat?”
Placing her helmet at the crown of her head, she nods. “I’ll meet you guys there. Cam, follow them. I’m going home first.”
“Take the Snake back the way you came and wait for us at the stop sign,” Micky tells him.
He nods as we walk to the car. Indy takes off in the opposite direction from Cam, while Micky and I climb into my car.
“I didn’t know you were in that deep,” he says, fucking with the radio. If it were anyone else, I’d smack his hands away, but he has to fuck with it.
“I don’t know, man. I’ve always had a thing for her. I just never approached her.”
“You flirted with her enough.”
The laugh bubbles out of me, because I do. She never took my flirting to be more than that and shrugged it off every time, until that night at the bar. When she told me to find her sober, I knew I had a chance. She doesn’t give those out often.
“I flirt with everyone, Mik.”
He shakes his head. “You fuck everyone. You flirt with her.”
“Looks like I have someone taking over my fuckboy ways.” I nudge his arm. Since he has exploded as a top-tier racer recently, all the grid girls find him appealing. A wicked smile crosses his face as he finally settles on a station.
