“What’s the worst that could happen?” I say.
Legend shrugs. “We might all explode. Who knows.”
“Don’t be so negative, bro,” Day chides. “It’s Halloween night. This is the time to try something weird. Magic is strongest right now.” He waves a vague hand.
Legend starts to smile. “I guess you’re right. And we probably won’t explode.”
“That’s comforting,” I joke.
“Are you ready for this?” Day looks seriously at me. “This is permanent, Ash. We’ll be bonded for the rest of our lives.”
Legend strokes my cheek. “No going back, little dragon.”
I don’t want to go back. Back to my old life, my empty apartment. I want Legend’s clothes all over my bedroom floor and Day’s hair products cluttering up my nightstand and their stupid health smoothies stinking up my fridge. I want my dragons all day, every day. Just the three of us against the world.
“I’m all in,” I say. “I’m yours. Both of yours.”
Legend’s bedroom is lit by flickering candlelight. Low music plays. Dark velvet curtains cover the windows, cocooning the three of us from the rest of the world. It was clear earlier but now heavy rain buffets the glass. Thunder rumbles in the distance, getting closer. There are two gorgeous men waiting for me in bed wearing nothing but smiles. Magic fills the air, getting stronger as we approach midnight. Legend and Day are ready to claim me. My life is about to change forever. And I have absolutely no doubts. I take off my clothes and glasses and join them in bed. They greet me with urgent kisses, shoving each other aside, jealous as usual.
“I need to see you guys kiss,” I say. “To know you’re cool after the fight.”
“We’re cool,” Day says. “I don’t hold grudges.”
Legend laughs. “He doesn’t have the brainpower.”
“Hilarious,” Day pouts.
“Kidding, bro,” Legend says. “You know I love you.”
“I guess we’d better do it to reassure baby dragon.” Day grins. “Nothing to do with the fact that watching us kiss makes this hard as fuck.”
He grabs my cock and holds on as they kiss on the lips. Then Legend kisses Day’s nose.
“Hope the nose is okay,” he murmurs.
Day kisses his abs in return. “Hope the stomach is okay.”
I guess that’s their idea of a mutual apology.
“So how does this claiming thing work?” I ask.
Legend’s eyes turn to fiery embers. “First, we add you to our hoards,” he says.
“You’re not going to lock me up in a treasure chest, are you? I get super claustrophobic, and—”
“Hush, baby dragon.” Day kisses my lips, laughing at the same time. “Would we ever lock you away? He means symbolically.”
Legend goes over to a picture on the wall. He opens it outward like in a movie, revealing a safe. A press of his fingertip, and the safe springs open. He lifts out a gold crown. A fucking crown. It looks old. Real. Like it should be in a museum. Like maybe it was, until he “liberated” it. My heart starts to beat uncomfortably.
“I can’t,” I protest. “It’s way too much—”
“No backtalk,” Legend says.
He walks over to me, smooths back my hair, and reverently places the crown on my head.
“I’ve hoarded this for two centuries, waiting for someone worthy,” he whispers.
I stare up at him, at the love in his brown eyes. He kisses my speechless lips.
