“Please don’t tell me you’re writing that down,” I groan, rubbing a hand across my face.
“Don’t worry, I’m not. I’m thinking.”
My eyes narrow as she continues to write without providing any indication of what she’s thinking. When she finally looks up, her gaze holds an unexpected flicker of heat.
“I think I’ve figured things out.”
I swallow hard at her almost predatory expression. “And what’s that?”
Samantha taps the tip of her pen on the paper. “You’re going to hire me as your assistant.”
“I can’t do that. Not when I’m struggling to be in the same room as you. It’d never work.”
“Let me finish,” she says, glaring at me. “On top of my regular job duties, I’ll be available for you to fuck when it gets too hard for you to focus.”
“Absolutely not,” I growl. “I’m not going to fuck you again, and I’m definitely not going to hire you to fuck me.”
“You won’t. You’ll pay me to do my job, and we’ll separately negotiate a free use contract between us as willing, consenting adults.”
My dick pulses against the fly of my pants, my wolf practically slobbering at the proposition. At hearing her mention free use.
She’s saying she’d let me fuck her whenever I needed. Let me use her body as my personal toy to relieve the aching hunger inside me.
It’s hard to think over my blood rushing south. I fight to maintain a hold on sanity, but my inner monster is screaming at me to accept the offer, consequences be damned.
Gods, I’m fucked, and not in a good way.

Moments like this remind me how fun it is to jump headfirst into a risky and likely terrible idea. My body thrums with excitement, my mind finally not sluggish with depression and defeat.
Nathan’s shock and accompanying arousal only add fuel to the fire of my recklessness.
“No.” Nathan’s rejection is weak. “No, we can’t…” He swallows hard, and I keep my gaze locked on him.
“Why not?” I ask, keeping my smile light as I lean forward and place my hands on the edge of the desk. Inside, I’m vibrating with the need for him to say yes.
“Because we can’t!” Nathan huffs, shoving back in his chair. His eyes scrunch shut, and I give him a moment to put together his argument, drinking in his sharp jawline and the bead of sweat rolling down his temple.
Gods, I’m not even using any of my supernatural skills of persuasion, and he’s sweating.
This hot, rich older man with the best dick I’ve ever had the pleasure of riding is falling apart because he wants me, and damn if that isn’t the ego boost I’ve desperately needed.
“Care to elaborate on what’s holding you back from taking me up on what is, frankly, the offer of a lifetime for you?” I prompt.
Nathan’s eyes open, but he keeps them focused down at the desk. “You’re too young.”
I can’t help but scoff. “I’m not some college co-ed. I’m almost thirty-eight.”
He groans, shaking his head. “You’re my best friend’s daughter.”
“Why does that have to matter? This isn’t romantic. We’re not trying to run off into the sunset together or have a happy little family. We’re talking about sex. I don’t know about you, but I’m not in the habit of disclosing my sexual partners to my parents, and they don’t interrogate me about them. It’ll never come up.”
“You really think your mother won’t be able to tell what we’re up to? If I come over and you’re there, she’ll know.”
He says it like being found out that we’re having sex by a woman who is the biggest advocate for having consensual boatloads of it would be the end of the world. But it’s a moot point because spending most of my life pushing Mom away will work to my advantage for once.
“She won’t. I was such a terror when I was younger that she learned to avoid sensing my emotions so I wouldn’t get angry at her for prying.”
