"How the fuck are we going to get her to the car? She regularly tackles enormous men."
Paige considered it.
"I can hear you," I grumbled at them.
"I think King will deal with this for us. Remember that time they were so loud that our neighbors came down to bang on the door?" Paige asked Mal.
I groaned, even though my heartbeat picked up with the reminder.
That night was the first time King had bitten me.
I could remember it vividly. He had pinned me to the mattress, with his hand buried in the back of my hair while he fucked me, the sensations driving me wild with pleasure.
I hadn't asked him to bite me.
I'd ordered him to.
The man had delivered. Repeatedly. Until we were both sticky and drenched and deliciously sated. That was the only time we had ever spent an entire night together, and I still thought about it. Frequently.
"This is going to be worse than that," Mallory said. "She could lift her arm without pain that day."
"Fuck me," I muttered.
"He will," Paige drawled.
I grimaced. "This is my fault. I should've seen that hit coming. Those guys were acting weird through the whole game."
"It's not your fault that people keep targeting you to piss off Oliver," Mallory said. "It's frustrating for all of us."
"And slightly exciting, since Oliver gets all possessive," Paige put in.
"Do not call him by his first name." I headed to my bedroom, saying over my shoulder, "No one does. It doesn't fit."
Mallory strode into the kitchen, probably looking for a snack. She was a bottomless pit when it came to food, even more than Paige and I were. Probably because she shifted a lot more often than we did, and shifting burned a crazy amount of energy.
"We can't call him by his last name like you do. We're not on your team," she said.
"And everyone online calls him by his first name," Paige added. "It's normal."
I stopped abruptly, only a foot away from my bedroom door. "Tell me you don't read about him online."
They exchanged looks I couldn't read. I couldn't see Mal, but I knew where she was, and Paige definitely looked at her.
They said nothing.
"Oh my god," I groaned. "Guys."
"Ladies," Mal corrected.
"What does the internet say about him?"
They looked at each other again.
I narrowed my eyes.
"Nothing," Mallory lied.
Paige sighed. "The internet talks about you guys like you're in love. Everyone thinks you are. You know that. Some of the fanart is very titillating."
