He tried to pull away.
I refused to let go of him, clinging like an enormous sloth.
King attempted to get his tank off, but that didn't work. I wouldn't let go of him long enough.
He tried to flip me over, instead. I kneed him in the side in revenge, stopping him and making him grunt again with pain.
Eventually, he gave up completely.
When he did, he slowly relaxed, positioned halfway on top of me. He'd shifted most of his weight to his side, so I wouldn't go numb from holding up his enormous mass of muscle. His face was smashed against my neck, and his arm was trapped partway underneath me.
"Wings," I mumbled to him.
He'd shifted them away at some point. Probably when he drove me to the medical team. Wings and cars didn't really mix.
"What about them?" His voice was muffled by the mattress, since I still refused to let him up.
"I want them."
"You wouldn't let me take my shirt off, remember?"
"You were trying to escape."
"It's not an escape if you don't want me here."
I growled. "Give them to me. They work with your shirt."
"Not while I'm sleeping."
I was aware enough to shift my nails to claws.
King hissed out a curse as I sliced through his shirt, removing the fabric and nearly taking his spine with it. The smell of his blood made my nose twitch.
God, he smelled amazing.
"Easy," he warned.
"I'm easy."
He huffed out a quiet laugh. "You're so fucking drugged."
"I'm fine."
"Sure." He managed to tug the torn fabric out from between us, so he was finally shirtless.
"Wings," I ordered again.
"Put your claws away, first."
It took me longer to shift them back to human nails, but I figured it out.
His wings unfurled on his back, and I sighed happily as he tucked them around me. King didn't try to roll us over or move me away from him this time, and I stroked the back of his wings slowly.
"Feels so fucking good," he mumbled, a few minutes later. "Going to crash. Sorry."
"You're good at snuggling," I mumbled back. "The best."
We were both snoring moments later.
