“We can test it tomorrow. When the others were able to leave, they could do so in broad daylight,” I said.

“They also said they still required blood,” Jacob reminded us. “So, we will still be monsters, just without the being inside of us.”

“I honestly do not mind being a vampire,” Harland admitted in a whisper. “As long as I am no longer burdened by the monster that laid within myself, I rather like being a vampire.”

“Me, too,” Jacob whispered. “The fun parts massively dominate the lesser ones.”

I could not help the chuckle that escaped my lips. “You truly are insatiable, my darling.”

He simply beamed at that. “I take great pleasure in that.”

Harland laughed softly. “I do not doubt it. And now we have our human to help sate your desires. And ours.”

“I know,” Jacob sighed dreamily. “I cannot wait for him to take me.”

“Me neither,” Harland grinned.

They then turned their attention to me. “What?”

“You only wish to do the taking. Have you allowed Colin to change that, or have you only taken him?” Jacob questioned.

“I have only taken him,” I answered. We were extremely open about our preferences and after eight hundred years together, and around six hundred with Harland, it proved necessary if we all wished to be happy and satisfied.

Jacob seemed disappointed by that. “Do you think his preference is to be taken only?”

Harland shook his head. “He was extremely willing to take me. Had you not interrupted us.”

A sheepish grin formed on Jacob’s lips as he apologized to Harland.

“I am just glad we are finally free of our monsters,” I sighed, smiling. “No more fighting.”

“I hated the fighting,” Jacob whispered. “It felt like the monster took fully over, making me…”

“A real monster,” Harland said.

Jacob nodded. “It was so scary.”

“But now, we are free,” I said, taking both their hands in mine.

“Where should we go?” Harland asked, eyes gleaming with excitement.

“Considering we likely have no money or identification…” I began, making them groan.

“Always with the logical way of life…” Jacob said.

“Taking the wind out of our sails,” Harland agreed, smiling fondly.

Laughing softly, I kissed each of their hands. “We actually managed to get free.”

“While still being together,” Jacob beamed, eyes a little glassy.

“We never thought that would be a possibility,” Harland whispered, looking with such devotion and awe at our human. “He saved us in more ways than one.”

“Do you believe he knew?” Jacob asked.

Harland tilted his head. “Knew what?”

“That he would end up with all of us?”
