“No, you were too busy to even notice me!” I roared back. “I might not mean much to you, but I at least thought you respected me.” Tears were threatening to make their appearance again, but I fought them back.
“You told me I could stay with them!” he reminded me, again.
“And I still mean that! But please protect my feelings in the meantime. That’s all I’m asking for.”
He stopped his pacing. “Does that mean you will be only mine if I promise you that?”
I let out a deep sigh. “No. I told you and Harland, both or neither. I can’t come between you two more than I’ve already done. And I like Harland.”
“But he can never love you like I can,” Jacob snarled.
“He’s your lover,” I reminded him. “How can you talk about him like that?”
He threw up his hands. “Because you should only be mine! Just the thought of sharing you is making my skin itch. I long to fucking claim you so no one else will ever get near you, except for me.”
“We barely know each other,” I reminded him, even though my voice was small and uncertain. It didn’t feel like we’d only just met. It felt like years had passed. I blamed the magical mansion for that.
“I cannot do this with you right now,” Jacob growled. “I am so keyed up that I fear taking it out on you will hurt too much.”
“What are you saying?”
“I am saying,” he began, stalking closer. “That one of my lovers will have to help me calm down after this.”
He was saying this to hurt me, and fuck if it hadn’t worked as intended.
“You do that,” I said, voice even. I hated this. Hated that we couldn’t seem to understand each other. And as Jacob spun around and left, I feared this would be the end of us. No relationship that started out this rocky could survive in the long run. If he was running off to his other lovers every time we had an argument, then what was in it for me?
My dreams were extremely vivid that night. I was somehow tied up, my arms and legs tied to the bed posts. Alexander stood with his chest bare at the end of my bed, eyes glowing. It felt so real when he touched my legs, trailing his fingers up my body. He then bit down on my thigh, making me moan as pleasure filled me.
Why I was dreaming of the one vampire who didn’t want me was a mystery, but fuck it, I was just going with it. Everyone knew dreams were weird and never really made any sense. I felt good and I just wanted to enjoy it. My dick was rock hard, brushing against his face while he fed from my upper thigh.
“Touch me,” I begged, longing to feel his hands on me. I was already close to bursting from his bite alone.
His red eyes glowed as he glared at me. The intensity was both terrifying and sexy as fuck. He grabbed my erection with one hand, stroking me with the perfect firmness.
“Fuck!” I moaned, throwing my head back as I came after five pumps. It would’ve been embarrassing if this was real.
Chapter Seventeen
Colin
Sienna had done wonders in my living room. No one would know that a fight between two vampires had broken out just two nights ago. I’d wanted to thank her, but I wasn’t blessed with her company this morning, which felt weird. I guessed she had better things to do than make sure I woke up each morning.
Nicco had my breakfast brought up to my room this morning, which I was glad for. A heavy storm was raging outside, the pouring rain beating heavily against the windows as I sat and sipped my coffee. You’d never know it was morning outside, the sun nowhere in sight. The weather matched my mood perfectly. I felt like a raging storm was brewing inside me, and that weird dream had me all jittery. Like a fool, I’d checked my thigh this morning —one could never be too careful around monsters— but there were no signs of a bite. And why would there be? Alexander hated me and my brain apparently had a kink for that sort of thing.
I couldn’t stop thinking about that damn dream.
Suddenly, something slammed into my window, something black. I hurried over to my balcony doors, finding a bird on the floor. Only, it wasn’t a bird. It was a bat, drenched from the rain, looking semi unconscious. I didn’t have a lot of experience tending to bats, but the poor thing seemed hurt.
Springing into action, I took off my t-shirt, then grabbed the bat, hearing a weird squeak from it, but otherwise it stayed docile. “You poor thing,” I cooed, hurrying inside. It was shivering from the rain, huddled up in my t-shirt. I wished I had something for it to eat, but Sienna was a thorough cleaner, which meant no spiders at all.
It didn’t seem to matter much, as the bat was closing its eyes as I held it like a baby. This wasn’t what I’d expected to do this morning, but I felt responsible for the tiny creature. It couldn’t be easy out there in the storm and all I had to do was to let it rest. If it was fine later, I would simply let it out on my balcony.
Taking the bat bundle with me, I carefully placed it in my bathroom, not wanting any diseases or anything weird from the bat. It also felt safer leaving it there for now.
Just as I closed the door, there was knocking on my door. “Thank god,” I whispered. Sienna would most likely know what to do about the bat. Only it wasn’t Sienna at my door, but a vampire with red hair, freckles, and warm brown eyes.
“Harland,” I said, my surprise evident.
