Chapter Eleven
Colin
“Seriously?!” Jacob demanded, following me into my bedroom.
Keeping cool and trying not to think about the fact that he could easily overpower me, I nodded. “I’m hungry.”
Ignoring the elephant boxers, I found a pair of my old ones that Sienna had cleaned, tugging them on. Jacob was gaping at me, then rushed forward with inhuman speed, tilting my head back with his thumb and pointer finger. “You truly do not desire me, human? You do not feel the need to have me touch you in ways you have never been touched before?”
My body reacted to his words, even though I tried really hard to mask it. Fuck it. I felt every fucking thing. “No,” I lied, sounding out of breath.
The vampire smiled wickedly at that, leaning in closer, our lips almost touching. “Liar.” Jacob’s lips slammed down on mine, his tongue pushing inside to dominate mine into submission. My knees weakened and I gave in, allowing the vampire to do whatever he wanted with me. I couldn’t fight it. Didn’t want to fight it. Alexander could run in here and kill me right now and the thought still wasn’t enough to make me move away from Jacob.
He broke the kiss, staying close. “Come.”
Blinking, I followed him. My mind was in a haze, dick throbbing.
“Nicco made you a delicious meal, and you should enjoy it. I apologize for attacking you like that. I simply find you irresistible.”
“Irresistible?” I parroted. “With two lovers already warming your bed? Is it because of my blood?”
“I might have two lovers, whom I care for very much, but this need I feel for you goes beyond anything I have ever experienced. But I can control myself.” He seemed to doubt that last part himself, frowning slightly.
“At least I know it’s not the taste of my blood, or I would be having the others following me around, too, watching me shower.”
Jacob growled low at that.
“Really?!” I asked, staring at him in disbelief. “You’re unbelievable.”
“I might not have a problem sharing the others, but you... I feel a murderous sort of rage even thinking of them touching you.”
I rolled my eyes and began to eat. I couldn’t believe the hypocrisy. Nor did I understand what made me so damn special. It had to be something in my blood. Maybe they felt this way with every sacrifice. I sure as hell didn’t feel special as Jacob eyed me hungrily as I ate. Did his lovers know about his obsession with me? It sounded bad, like he wasn’t in control of himself anymore. No one wanted to feel out of control. It was only a matter of time before Jacob realized what I apparently did to him was a huge burden. But I was also done with fighting whatever was happening between us. For once in my life, I could allow myself to have something I truly wanted. No matter if it would cost me my life. Somehow, I’d been ready to give up my entire existence to become the sacrifice. I might as well truly live, even just for a little while.
That didn’t mean I wasn’t hiding away whenever possible, though. I still feared their wrath. Any day now Alexander and Harland would need to feed. Sienna had warned me they needed it often in the beginning.
“You need to get dressed after eating,” Jacob said, reminding me he was still there, watching me.
“Why?”
I was still only in my boxers.
“Because I want to show you something. Outside.”
Ominous, but that seemed to be the whole vibe here. I guessed I should just feel lucky to be told how this whole blood vow got made in the first place. I somehow doubted they told every sacrifice that story. I also really wanted to know where the “freed” vampires went.
“Fine,” I agreed, secretly pleased to be spending more time with him. Sienna had cleaned the outfit I arrived in as well, which meant I had something to wear that didn’t feature racecars.
Once my stomach was satisfied, I left Jacob at the table and got dressed. He of course followed me and watched me get dressed. It still felt like I was put on display, but I also felt weirdly empowered having his attention on me like that.
“Good enough to eat,” Jacob purred once I was done, grabbing my hand and hauling me out of my room. He seemed in a hurry, but I was too busy trying to keep up with his speed to ask any questions. When he finally released me, we were in the attic, a place I’d never been and honestly never thought I would need to be. “Over here,” he said, tugging me further into the dark room. I was so about to get killed.
“The latch is unlocked.” He pointed to a ladder that led somewhere. The latch was closed, giving no sign whatsoever to the destination.
“You first,” I said, stepping back. He just rolled his eyes at me, but climbed the ladder and opened the latch, disappearing upstairs.
“You coming?” he asked, sounding amused.
Sighing–because I was weak and couldn’t stop myself from following the vampire, no matter how much I dreaded it–I followed him.
