She stood her ground, spoke her mind, and chased her dreams. She wanted more than proximity to a millionaire football star. She wanted her own business and income separate from me—which only made me want to spoil her more. I had to work for her attention and trust.
While Meadow slept tucked to my side, I carefully reached for my phone off the nightstand and typed a text to Seddrick.
ME:
You up?
The three typing dots popped up instantly.
Sed:
No.
ME:
Great.
I sent him a money transfer of the maximum $10,000 limit.
Sed:
What’s this for?
ME:
For your time. I need you to do a couple of things for me.
Sed:
You finna piss me off aincha?
ME:
Of course not. I just need you to set up some stuff for me in the days to follow. I want to do this shit right with Meadow. I need you to book the PJ and a week-long stay at the ski resort. We need you to set up a meeting with the lawyers and Dow’s current employer. I want to get her out of the previous contract so we can lock in on our relationship while she remains as my PT.
I also need you to do one more thing, but I’ll speak to you in person about it.
Sed:
Aww shit. Over stood. I’ll keep you posted.
I liked his text and set my phone on the nightstand. I rolled over and pulled Meadow into my arms. I kissed her forehead and gazed upon her sleeping face.
She was the epitome of beauty. Her features were perfect. The way she lightly snored was perfect.
“Stop staring at me,” she mumbled under her breath without opening her eyes.
I blinked in surprise. “I thought you were sleeping.”
Her eyes opened as she offered me a sleepy smile.
“I was until I felt your lips on me in my dreams.”
We shared a laugh together. For the first time in a long time, peace washed over me. We were exactly where we belonged.
“How’d you sleep, my love?”
“Like a baby on a cloud. This bed is perfect. I didn’t wake up in my sleep a single time.”
