Platinum hummed. “I don’t know, man . . .”

Seddrick looked between the two of us and shook his head. “Y’all playing, and I’m trying to lock shit in before the bank closes. What’s it going to be?”

“If Meadow’s comfortable with it, I’m cool with her living here full time and only focusing on me and my recovery. I don’t want to share her with nobody else, so double what the initial offer was. She knows what she’s talking about, and I respect her and her time for sure.”

I blinked in surprise. “Woah. Platinum, that’s almost—”

“I don’t care how much it is. It still isn’t enough. You’re damn good at what you do, and you make me hopeful for the future.”

“Thank you. Honestly.”

Seddrick nodded. “Cool. I’m going to set up the transfer. Also, do you want me to speak to the chef and housekeeper on your behalf, or would you like to speak to them directly?”

“I would prefer if I spoke to them directly. I also want to make sure everyone is on one accord for Platinum’s post-surgery plan.”

“You finna have me eating avocado toast and lettuce?” Platinum chimed in.

Another laugh filled the air from deep within my belly. “I wasn’t, but now I am.”

“I’m going to text you the contact information for the chef, housekeeper, and security. I’ll get you a key made so you can move as you need to. I’m going to go in the office and set up the transfer now.”

“Thank you, Seddrick.” I packed up my things.

“You’re welcome.” He gave me a short nod before turning back toward his office. When his frame disappeared, I returned my gaze to Platinum.

“Before you go for the day, let’s pick your room. You want a first- or second-floor room?” Platinum asked.

“You’ll be on the first floor for most of your recovery, so I think it would be best if I had a room on the first floor for easy access to you whenever you need me.”

“A’ight. Let me put my brace back on and show you the rooms we have for you to choose from.”

Within a few minutes, he had his brace on with his crutches tucked securely under his arms. We walked through the living room, past the kitchen, and down the hall to several doors. I peeked into each room, not really feeling any of the rooms.

“There’s only the pool room left,” Platinum forewarned.

“I guess if I don’t like it, then I’ll go back to one of the other rooms.”

He nodded and opened the door for me. The smell of chlorine infiltrated my nostrils instantly. The room was elegant and cozy with a rectangular shaped pool. One end was three feet, the middle was six feet, and the other end was ten feet.

“I haven’t seen a ten-foot-deep pool in decades. Wow.”

“I’m a fish in the water. I needed to make sure I can get a good workout in while I’m swimming too.”

“You can swim?”

“You can’t?”

“Well, . . . not really. I can kick my feet and not drown, but as far as like techniques and stuff, absolutely not.”

He shook his head. “I don’t like that. I’m not a strict dude, but please listen to me when I say this. You bet not go in the deep end without supervision. I don’t want you drowning, especially if I can’t jump in and save your ass if you fall in.”

“I’ll do my best.” I giggled.

“I’m serious, Meadow.”

“I hear you. I promise I won’t go in the deep end without my floaties and supervision.”

We went past the pool to the connecting suite. The room was beautiful. The setup was perfect. There was a studio style bed, a love seat, a full bathroom, a mini fridge, and a kitchenette. There were also floor-to-ceiling windows that offered a lot of natural lighting. The view outside was spectacular.
