“I fell in love with a budding country music star. I’m looking for whatever that experience will be.”

She smiled. “I hoped that was what you’d say. So, you don’t care if I’m gone a lot?”

“I’ll be here every time you come home.” My tension suddenly spiked. “Where is your home?”

“Technically, Nashville.”

I nodded while my thoughts jumped into troubleshooting mode.

I’d just started a business with Knox and Colton. We’d barely gotten things off the ground. I didn’t want to abandon them or the mission, but I wouldn’t leave Harper, as long as she’d have me.

“I’d like to move to Carolina Bay.”

My gaze snapped back to hers. “Really? Can you do that?”

“I think I can do whatever I want.” She smiled. “It’ll take planning, and I’ll spend a lot of time in Nashville, but I want to leave the apartment and be here anytime I’m not working or on tour.”

“That sounds incredible.”

“Do you think we can figure out how to make that work?” Her lips pressed into a thin white line, bracing, just slightly, for a wrong answer.

“Honestly, I think we can do just about anything.”

She released an easy breath. “Me, too.”

I reached for one of her hands and pulled it to my lips for a kiss.

“You know,” she said, voice lifting. “Knox and Sloane’s place is really beautiful, and I imagine they make good roommates.”

I frowned. “I’m looking for my own place.” That was at the top of my goals list before I’d met Harper. Now that I had her, I needed somewhere to share as many private moments like this as possible. “I promise.”

“Or—”

I frowned. “You want me to stay with them? Is this about the surgery?”

She laughed and her cheeks went pink.

“I am fine. I will get up right now and go running.” I tried to shove the blanket off my legs, but she held it down with the reflexes of a professional athlete, or a tiny, redheaded ninja.

Her laughter became a cackle, and I might’ve been offended if I hadn’t loved the sound so much. “I have good pillows,” she said, when her breath returned.

“What?”

“And a king-size bed. Or a guest room that I’d absolutely hate for you to use. Though, that might make sense for a little while longer, while you recover.”

A slow grin spread over my face at the unexpected turn of our conversation. “What are you saying?”

“Move in with me,” she said. “Live here. Travel with me anytime you can. When you can’t, just be here when I come home.”

For a moment, I couldn’t answer, too stunned by the offer of a perfect life with her. “Yes.”

“Yes?”

I leaned in Harper’s direction, reaching for her beautiful face, desperate to kiss her lips. She’d offered me everything I could possibly want and somehow looked as if she thought I might say no.

I would definitely have to work on making sure she knew how much I loved her.

The stitches across my torso pulled tight in immediate, white-hot protest before I reached her lips.
