“Is she a student?”

“Yes.”

“Are you going to let her go to her classes tomorrow?”

“If she’s ready.”

“Ready…” Dante sets his elbows on the counter. “By that, you mean if you can trust her to come home after class without turning you in to the police or leaving Darkwell.”

“Basically.” I point my knife at him. “She’s mine. There will be no running from me. She’ll see that sooner rather than later.”

“You sound like Rook,” he digs.

I growl. “Don’t remind me.”

“I’m just saying… The only difference is that Rook happened to choose your sister for the freshman prank. It wasn’t his fault. Rook and Briana seem cozy. Stop scowling at him and give him the chance to prove he’s good for her.”

I’m frowning as I finish making the sandwiches. “I’m working on it. I’ve spoken to him.”

“Okay. When are you going to bring your girl to the dinner table?”

“When I’m ready. Not for a while. She needs a strict routine. I don’t want to deviate from it until it’s well established.”

“She needs a routine, or you need her to have one?” Dante asks.

I roll my eyes. “Both. Semantics.”

He chuckles again. “Can’t wait to meet her.”

“Maybe worry about your own girl, grow some balls, and face her.”

Dante isn’t the least bit offended by my comment. The five of us know each other well. We can take a bit of flak from one another.

“Don’t rush me,” he jokes. “I’ll reel her in when the time is right.”

I clean up my mess, pick up the plate of food, and head for the stairs. “Nice chat,” I toss over my shoulder.

Interesting. Dante has a girl he’s fucking with, too. Funny how that makes three of us who broke the house rule this fall. I wonder what Talon and Lucien are up to…

I’m startled when I hear the key in the lock and look up from where I’ve been pacing back and forth in the room, holding my book. I’ve been more engrossed than expected, which caused me to forget myself and my crazy circumstances for a while.

My cheeks flush as Silver enters the room. I’m embarrassed for no good reason. He’s got me tangled in knots. The man has seen every inch of my body, inside and out, yet I’m suddenly self-conscious about my lack of clothing. The thin, white tanks and panties make me feel almost more exposed than being naked. They accentuate my nipples and how wet my pussy is. I’m sure this outfit is meant to make me look and feel sweet and innocent in contrast to the fact that he spends a lot of time pointing out what a filthy slut I am.

He sets a plate with two sandwiches on the small table and turns to me. “How’s the book?”

“It’s not bad. Thanks for the suggestion about pacing the room. It’s ingenious. I’ve always struggled to stay awake when reading for a class.”

He smiles broadly. I’ve pleased him, which makes my heart happy. Sometimes, it’s hard to know how to please him or what might set him off.

“Come.” He pulls out a chair.

I lower my book to my desk and shuffle toward him, curious about how this is going to go down.
