He confessed.

“Murphy says with everything they’ve got on record, you’ll be exonerated. You’re free. News of his confession is starting to leak out. People are going nuts.”

I blink back tears as I feel the cold counter of the kitchen island on my forehead.

I will be publicly proven innocent.

Everyone knows the truth: I wasn’t trying to extort them.

The hundreds, thousands of people who betrayed me, who turned their backs on me, who threw me hate mail and public accusation. All of them. Publicly wrong.

My career, my life back.

My home.

Everything back the way it was—or no, even better than the way it was, no doubt.

The only thing better than being a successful content creator is this: being a recently wronged one.

The flood of support will be overwhelming.

At this level?

Tsunami.

My fingers itch desperately for my phone.

“Which brings me to the second reason I’m here.”

I sit up to see Serena has pulled a folder out of her coat.

She slides it over the table.

There’s a hexagon logo with long, thin script inside: “Whitman Agency.”

“What’s this?” I open the folder. Inside, clear script at the top reads: “Agency Agreement between Serena Whitman and Catherine Cranwell.”

I scan the page quickly, the words “partnership” and “15 percent” and “termination when one or both parties decide to cease their contractual relationship.”

I hold the page up. “What is this? You want to go into partnership together? What brand—?”

“I don’t want to partner with you as an influencer. I want to be your agent.”

“What?” I give a half laugh. “You don’t need the job. Why would you want to be an agent?”

She takes a deep breath, preparing her speech as if she expected this. “I’ve done a lot of thinking the past few months, all that time taking care of your sorry, pathetic self moping around the streets of New York.”

My cheeks flush as my eyes flicker to Zaiah sitting on the couch.

“I wouldn’t exactly say it was that bad—”

“You know, reminding you to eat—”

“Now that’s not entirely—”

“Getting you to take showers again.”

I squeeze my eyes shut.
