Shaan comes out wearing nothing but a towel and looks at me sitting half-dressed on his bed.

“What are you doing with my phone?” He takes it from me.

“Why is Sonia still texting you?”

He opens his phone and reads the text, his eyes widening for a moment before his expression returns to neutral

“She doesn’t get the hint,” he says too casually.

“Didn’t you guys break up like two years ago?”

“She’s trying to start shit up. She knows we’re getting engaged soon,” he says as he uses another, smaller, towel to dry his hair.

“Block her.”

“What?”

“I said block her, now.” I get up and fold my arms across my chest, trying to look stern while wearing nothing but a shirt.

“Fine. She’ll probably just message me with a different number. That’s why I didn’t before.”

“Right,” I mutter under my breath.

I watch over his shoulder as he hits block and then chucks his phone on the bed.

He grabs me and gives me a kiss. “You’re the only one I want. You know that, right?”

And despite the warning bells sounding in my head, I kiss him back.

“Love you, babe.”

“Love you, too.”

I lean over to kiss Eshaan before hopping out of his car and onto the sidewalk in front of my office building.

I hear a low whistle and look over to see Matt staring at the car as it speeds off.

“Boyfriend has a nice car.”

“Thanks.”

“I hear congrats are in order. You killed the pitch.” His words help to lighten the heaviness cloaking me.

“Thanks. I’m stoked about it.” We walk side by side to the elevators.

“You’ll have to tell me your secrets to getting investors to spend millions.”

“I just pout my lips at them.”

He looks over at me as the elevator doors open and laughs nervously. “How’s this?” he says, adding his finest pout.

I squint my eyes in mock judgment. “Work on it, bro. Anyways, we’re doing a debrief this week. I’ll send you an invite.”

“That would be great.”

The elevator hits our floor, and we walk out.
