I elbow him gently. “Oh, but I do.”

“I’ll let you use your imagination.”

I pout at him. “You’re no fun.”

He smirks at me. “If you want fun, let me show you how fun I can be.”

I swig back the rest of my drink as he takes my hand and leads me outside to the rooftop patio. He entwines my fingers in his, looking back at me with a sly grin on his lips. He walks me to a secluded place away from the noise, but where we’re not completely alone.

It’s dark, and the music is thumping in my ears in rhythm to my racing heartbeat as he leans in. “What kind of fun would you like to have?” he whispers in my ear. Our bodies are almost touching. If either of us even moved an inch, our lips would touch, too.

“You tell me what you have in mind,” I whisper back seductively, even though I know I shouldn’t let this carry on.

“Why don’t I show you instead?”

I wet my lips in anticipation.

He pulls me closer so our hips are touching. He runs his hand slowly and softly up and down my bare thigh, leaving a wake of goosebumps, while he takes his other hand and slips the tip of his finger into my mouth, dragging it across the inside of my bottom lip. I get a taste of him, and I shiver as I close my eyes. I place my hands on his chest to steady myself. The feel of his touch on my skin causes me to stumble slightly more than the alcohol buzzing through my system.

“How’s this for fun?” He speaks softly into my ear.

“Not bad,” I whisper.

“Not bad?” A challenge he’s more than up for.

He replaces his finger with his lips, and I can’t pull away. I don’t want to. He kisses me gently at first, a lover’s caress. Raindrops on an infinite ocean. An amuse-bouche before a scrumptious dinner. Then, like he wants to devour me right there, like I’m air, and without me he can’t breathe.

His hand moves up my jacket and onto my bare back under my halter top, and I arch into his touch.

Closer, I want him closer.

I wrap a leg around him, pushing him into me. I’m vaguely aware I shouldn’t be doing this, but my thoughts slip away until there is only sensation. His tongue doing tantalizing sensual sweeps of my mouth. His strong hands on my back and hips. Soft at first and then gripping me tighter. My arms wrapped around his broad shoulders. Our bodies pressed up against each other. His warmth seeping into my dry, brittle soul, bringing out emotions, feelings, and passion I didn’t think I would ever experience.

I lose myself in the feel of him, barely registering an incessant buzzing in my jacket pocket, until I realize it’s my phone. I pull back, and it’s such an intrusion, drawing me out of the world of sensation. Our breaths are ragged, and I immediately miss the touch of his lips on mine. It takes me time to register where we are, but then, slowly, the music comes flooding back in, along with the voices all around us.

If his smell was intoxicating, his touch is pure rapture, leaving me shaking with need.

He steps back, and I walk toward him as my phone keeps buzzing. I pull it out and silence it, and in a moment, his lips are on mine again, incessant, hungry, desperate.

My phone buzzes again, and I reluctantly pull away from Nick. It’s a message from Sunny.

“So, Sunny and Kin are outside waiting for us.” The words feel strange, like a completely different language.

Nick tucks a strand of hair behind my ear, and his gaze drops to my lips before he takes my hand again. He brings my inner wrist to his lips, planting a barely-there kiss that has me weak with longing.

“To be continued.” He winks.

As he leads me out of the club, all I feel is his phantom touch heating up my body all over. We step outside, and Sunny and Kin are waiting a few metres down the street, their arms around each other. It makes me so happy looking at them, because I know how much Sunny deserves this.

I don’t realize that I’m still holding hands with Nick until we reach them. I let go, immediately wishing I hadn’t. I know Sunny would never judge, having been judged and shamed all his life for who he is, but still, it’s an automatic response, because I shouldn’t be doing any of this.

Nick and Sunny fall in step with one another, and I drop back to walk alongside Kin.

I don’t know how much Sunny’s told him about me, and I suddenly feel self-conscious, but Kin looks over at me with nothing but kindness shining in his eyes, and it’s refreshing.

“You and Sunny are so great together.”

“He’s incredible.” He smiles and looks at Sunny’s back adoringly. “I’m lucky to have found him.”
