And he wasn’t sure what to make of that. All he knew for certain was that he didn’t want to stop.

Her arms wrapped around him, and she pulled him closer. But it still felt like there was a gulf between them. Bain slid a hand between her and the wall, arching her up into him. Nope. Still not close enough.

Full, inviting lips begged Bain to taste and tease, which he willingly did, earning little gasps against his mouth. Tongues danced in sensual exploration. A tiny moan escaped her, and he swallowed it down.

Nothing mattered anymore. Not where they were, or who might be watching. Nothing. All he cared about was losing himself in Rona. No words could describe how desperate he was for her. It was an ache, deep in his soul. A hunger he feared would never be sated. An anguished longing. For her. Only her.

With a tiny mewling sound, Rona lifted her leg to curl a foot around his calf. Bain growled his approval, and took full advantage of the move to slide his leg between hers. She rubbed against his thigh, gasping at the sensation it produced. He pressed harder as Rona clung to him, riding him. Her desire was instinctive, unsophisticated, and one of the hottest things he’d ever experienced.

So. Damn. Hot.

He was in danger of embarrassing himself. For the first time in his life, he feared there was a chance he’d lose control and go off prematurely. Right there. In the corridor. Surrounded by other people’s coats, and where anyone could stumble upon them at any moment.

If he’d been able, he would have laughed at the thought. Bain MacGregor, with all his experience, losing control while fully dressed and necking with Rona Dalgliesh.

Yet, it took every ounce of strength he possessed not to surrender to the need.

He had to think of Rona.

He had to make her feel good, so she’d want to come back for more.

His right hand slid down to capture her breast. And it was his turn to groan. So full. Ripe. Ready. He felt the hard bud of her nipple against his palm and wanted it in his mouth.

Her hips moved, rubbing herself against his thigh, and Bain offered himself up for her pleasure. Holding her tight as she chased her release. Nails bit through his sweater and into his back, reminding him that there were far too many clothes between them.

The kiss became frantic.

She moved rhythmically now. Lost to everything but sensation.

Yes, he mentally urged. Take what you need. Come apart for me.

Her kisses became unfocused as her hands clasped tighter. Bain took control of their lips while massaging the heavy weight of her breast. And then, on instinct, he pinched her sensitive nipple.

Rona shattered.

He tried to smother her wail with his mouth before gentling his kiss. Slowly, carefully, as though handling spun gold, he eased her back to earth. To him. As her body trembled against his Bain smiled, suspecting his arms were the only thing keeping her upright.

She was perfection.

Her soft, panting breaths feathered over his lips as he stroked his thumb against the curve of her throat, feeling the sheen of sweat on her skin as her pulse beat a rapid tattoo. Her foot fell to the floor while her fingers uncurled from his back. She splayed her hands wide on him, keeping him in place.

Bain shifted to rest his forehead against hers, as the world slowly began to materialize again. Music grew louder. Lights became brighter. Then voices began to register.

Voices…

Reality hit Bain like a bucket of ice water over his head. They were in a hallway, hidden only by a bank of coats, and behaving like a pair of randy teenagers.

“You okay?” he asked Rona.

Her green eyes blinked several times, as though trying to bring him into focus. From the pink flush of her cheeks to the swollen pout of her lips, she looked exactly like a woman should after losing control.

Mesmerizing.

“I can’t believe I just did that,” she said breathlessly.

“Neither can we,” a familiar voice replied.

Bain’s head snapped around to find his brother Kade standing on the other side of the coats, his back to them. Before he could process the sight, another voice called out.
