Brody
Yes. It was definitely her project manager skills that you were drawn to.
I’d normally tell you to fuck off, but I know you’re in pain, so I won’t go there. How are you feeling?
Phoenix
It’s more like…he’s a pain in the ass. He’s working my last nerve.
Cannon was staying with Phoenix at his house right now, since Phoenix had a one-story home and Cannon had a larger two-story house. Phoenix also had a lot of medical training as a firefighter, and as much as he joked and acted annoyed, he’d insisted that Cannon stay there so he could keep an eye on him while he healed.
Brody
You don’t have a first nerve. You’re always on your last nerve.
Cannon
And excuse me for having two broken ribs, a broken hand, and throw in the torn ACL and a concussion.
Phoenix
I’m aware of your injuries, dicknugget. But you bought a fucking bell, when you know that ringing a bell every five minutes is going to annoy me. Yet you continue to ring it over and over again.
Cannon
Annoying you is one of my greatest joys.
I’ll drop some more meals by today. Nix, you’re back to work tonight, right?
Phoenix
Yes. But I’ll make sure he’s fed before I leave.
Cannon
I’m not a fucking dog, assface.
Brody
Don’t forget to take him outside to pee.
Cutler
Gracie and I are coming by to hang out with you tonight, brother.
I’ll drop the meals off later, and I’ve got a good bone for Meatball.
Meatball was Cutler and Gracie’s bulldog. He was a lazy fucker, but also the coolest dog I’d ever met.
Cutler
Great. He has swim lessons this afternoon. That’ll be a nice treat.
Cannon
What the fuck has happened to our lives. Heart’s dog takes swim lessons, Phoenix is my caretaker, Brody’s sending me French braid videos to help him decide what style to do for Clover’s birthday party, and Bass is completely obsessed with his nemesis, yet he won’t admit it.
You clearly have way too much time on your hands.
