I snorted at him. “She’s probably planned his death a dozen times since they’ve been outside.”

Sloane flicked her wrist, shooting two bright orange bolts into the chests of the men closest to her. She kept her expression passive, letting Miller take the lead. Sloane and Hyde seemed content to be her backup.

The last guard turned his attention to the little succubus. Then he slumped over the back of a chair after making eye contact with her—his mistake.

There was a single shriek from the patio, and both Miller’s mates were on their feet, ready to help. The screaming stopped immediately, though. The male that Miller was here to meet attempted to thrash in his chair, but he couldn’t move much.

Sloane and Hyde nodded to Miller. They spoke for a moment, and then Millie snapped her head in Sloane’s direction before laughing in the male’s face.

“I’ve never seen her so sure of herself,” Farris murmured to Zephyr. “That’s Felix LeBlanc. She dated him, off and on, for a few months. I just found out that he’d been threatening her family too.”

“I see,” Zephyr responded, curiosity changing his tone. “I don’t see why you were so worried. She’s handling this… better than I was expecting.”

Miller propped her chin in her hand, a cruel smirk on her face as she said something to Felix. I wished that I could hear their conversation.

“I wonder what she wants to do about him?” Farris asked no one in particular. “We can’t leave him breathing. He’ll keep coming back.”

I shrugged, feeling no remorse about his brewing death. “Even if Mills doesn’t kill him here, Sloane won’t let him live to see the sunrise. He threatened Palmer and his family. She won’t let that go.”

The dark mage positioned her hand in front of her mouth as if she was going to blow him a kiss. And that’s exactly what she did.

She gave him a kiss of death.

Dust-like particles floated off of her hand and swarmed around Felix’s head. His mouth opened in a voiceless scream, and all that tiny black shit disappeared. His body tipped over, landing on the ground with his useless bodyguards.

“Think she’ll leave it that clean?” York questioned, already shaking his head.

“Not a chance,” I answered, then wondered, “Should we call Grim?”

“Already sent him a text. We’d need Vaughn to wash the blood away. I’m hoping Grim can cover it up or something. I don’t know what the humans here would think about that scene.”

The girls remained seated, but Sloane wiggled in her chair as she pulled her straw to her lips. Hyde playfully glared at my mate, and she grinned lovingly at the little succubus as she pulled her dagger from her boot.

Zephyr and Farris jumped to their feet, ready to rush outside to save their mate yet again. But Sloane was already around the table with a handful of hair.

She put her boot on the first dead guard’s shoulders, jerking his head up to access his neck. The obsidian blade of her dagger slid into his skin, blood spilling onto her hand and wrist with each swipe.

York sighed. “Sit the fuck down. She’s not going to stab the girls, but if you walk out there… Well, I can’t say for sure what she’d do to you.”

I chuckled. “Of course, she wouldn’t be able to kill them without making sure they were dead dead.”

Arwen's jaw hit the floor as Hyde and Miller snickered at each other while Sloane removed the head of a vampire with no real effort. She decapitated the other three guards before bumping the toe of her boot against Felix as she spoke to the girls.

Grim stepped through the Void behind Sloane, and Hyde’s face lit up with excitement. He glanced around before he glared at my kitten, his mouth moving as he rolled his deep purple eyes. The grin she gave him was broad, bordering sarcastic.

He waved her away with his left hand, and Sloane stood on her tiptoes to kiss his cheek sweetly. She grabbed her drink from the table as Hyde and Miller pulled themselves up.

Arwen was ready to crawl out of his skin when Grim leaned down for Hyde to kiss his opposite cheek. Millie waved politely, and he tipped his head in return as he called his scythe to his hand.

None of the girls had a single hair out of place, but my kitten was a bit dirty. Sloane observed our table from the other side of the window before she spoke to Grim.

The three of them walked back inside, not a care in the world over the bloody state of Sloane’s arms. Hyde glanced around, finally wrinkling her nose as she nodded toward the hallway where a restroom sign hung overhead. And they disappeared like they weren’t the center of our table’s attention.

The druid scoffed, rolling his eyes as my gaze stayed focused on our mate.

“Contain your disappointment, Demon. There are too many humans around for you to be sprouting horns and a tail, not to mention the shar—”

“Don’t call them shark teeth. I hate the fact that Levi made that stick.”
