“Hey, would you like some company?”

Rogue’s face lit up as she saw me and the treats. “How’d you know I was going to grab a caramel apple on my way out?”

“I guess I’m a mind reader.” I winked. I set the tray down on an empty spot on her table and handed her a hot chocolate and apple. “How have sales gone? Looks like you sold a lot.” I gestured to the once full boxes now dwindling to a few hats.

“Thank you.” She held up the hot chocolate before taking a sip. She sat down in a chair and patted the one next to her. “It’s been great. I’ve sold a lot more than expected. I’m almost sold out.”

“That’s awesome.”

“I went viral on social media a few months back and the orders have tripled since then. A lot of customers told me they saw my videos. I’m booked with orders until after the holidays.”

“Wow. Do you ever feel like it’s too much pressure? To keep up with the knitting?”

“Well, thankfully, I have a huge collection of these hats as I knitted nonstop before I went viral. I’ve had to slow down since, but I’m well stocked for a while. I know I sound like a complete nerd.”

I laughed. “No, you don’t. You have a passion for something. That’s great. I spend all my time working on cars. When I’m not working on a custom job, I’m working on my own stuff.” I sipped my hot cocoa and took a bite of the apple. Mmm.

Rogue bit into her own apple and caramel covered her lips. I wanted to lick it off.

I swallowed hard as I twisted in my seat. Fuck. My dick was about to make itself known in ways I didn’t want it to.

“Sorry, these are messy.” Rogue laughed, and I grabbed a napkin from the tray and handed her one.

“I don’t mind.”

Her cheeks flushed. Fuck, she was sexy. I wanted to kiss her. It was all I could think about. “I’m sure you don’t. You’ve got a bit on the side of your mouth.”

Rogue leaned forward, her face inches from mine. She brushed the side of her finger against my mouth and we both froze, staring at each other.

Do it. Kiss her.

“Excuse me, are you still selling hats?” A voice broke through the haze and both of us jumped backwards.

Rogue stood quickly, dropping her apple and drink back in the tray while wiping her hands on the napkin. “Sorry, yes they are.”

I couldn’t stop grinning like a cat who got the mouse. I almost kissed her.

I tried not to stare at her ass as she made the sale, and when she sat back down next to me, I sat up straighter, covering my lap with my drink. “What are you doing after you’re done here?”

“Going back to the cabin I rented. If I can find it.” Rogue chuckled, her voice a bit shaky.

“Yeah, it’ll be dark soon. Easy to get lost around here. I could help. I know this town like the back of my hand.”

“You are my hero today, you know that?”

She made me feel like a million bucks. “I’d strive to be that every day you let me.”

CHAPTER THREE

Hutch

An hour later, we loaded up Rogue’s car with her empty boxes. She had a rush of customers and ended up selling the rest of her hats. She even took a few orders to fulfill later.

“You do very well for yourself. I’m impressed.” I said.

“Thanks. People love easy things to give as gifts. And everyone’s head gets cold at some point.”

“Good point. So where’s this cabin you’re staying?”
