He rolled a condom down his cock, then aligned the tip with my entrance. Slowly, I sank onto him, my breath catching in my throat at the fullness. He brushed the hair off my face.

I slid down another inch. He pressed a thumb to my clit, rubbing it in slow circles. His other hand cupped my breast, caressing and squeezing. Then he thrust upward slowly, teasing me.

I rolled my hips. He closed his eyes. “Fuck…this is…”

Heat. Surrender. Trust. And something more I was scared to name because we only had one night. I couldn’t waste a minute.

Another roll of my hips. He matched my movements, one arm holding me close, the other hand rubbing me between my legs.

His scent. His mouth on my breasts. He spread my wetness over my clit, circling faster as he sped his thrusts.

“I’ll fuck you slowly”—he licked my nipple— “the second time.”

I didn’t want slow. This was perfect. My moan triggered his. I moved faster, chasing the pleasure. Alejandro’s thrusts turned sloppier. His control was slipping together with mine.

“Fucking take it.” He groaned. “All of me.”

There was a lot of him to take. And I couldn’t get enough.

He hit the spot that made me dig my nails into his shoulders as I trembled. “Let go,” I whispered against his lips, cupping his jaw. “With me. I’m close.”

I clamped around his cock, trembling as my sex clenched over and over.

“Fuck…” He breathed, jerking. “Nova…”

He spilled himself into the condom, crushing me to him. Face buried in his neck, I ran my shaky hand over his damp back, soaking in the feel of him.

The aftershocks of the orgasm still coursed through my body when he fell back onto the blanket, taking me with him. After a moment, he went to the bathroom to dispose of the condom and returned with a washcloth.

He ran it between my legs with tenderness and care. Then he lay beside me. As he cradled me to his chest, I shut my eyes, trying not to dwell on the fact our first night together was also our last.

CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

Alejandro

November

Idrew aimless patterns on Nova’s bare back, listening to her breaths. How the fuck did we end up here? Must’ve been this place. Or my lack of willpower when it came to this woman. Maybe I shouldn’t have agreed to this.

What happened in Spain probably wouldn’t stay in Spain.

But then I wouldn’t know what having her felt like. Giving her up would hurt, but I didn’t have a choice. It was for the best.

I swallowed, pressing my lips to her forehead. Her lashes fluttered. She tipped her face up, meeting my gaze, blue eyes hazy with sleep. “You must be uncomfortable with me on top. Want to move to the bed?”

Her worry tugged at my chest. Had I given her the night she deserved? I adjusted the duvet around her. “No. I’m good. Unless you’re not?”

“I’m comfortable, but maybe the bed is better if we fall asleep.”

I doubted I would, but I sat up carefully and placed her arms around my neck. She clung to me as I carried her to the bed. Then she was in my arms under the covers, fast asleep. All I could do was stare at the fire as it devoured the logs, replaying every kiss, every touch. Wishing I wasn’t her boss. Wishing this wasn’t a one-time thing.

No other night I’d spent with anyone came close to this. It terrified me.

Thirty minutes later, I gave up. I threw on a hoodie and sweats and left the room.

Silence blanketed the house as I headed for the kitchen. Nova might want water later. I grabbed a glass from the cupboard. As I filled it, feet scuffed against the tiles. I turned, and Manu arched a brow, holding two empty champagne glasses.

“What are you doing up?”
