Renzo gently pulled me back and gave a soft chuckle.
“Impatient?”
“I thought so, but that hurt,” I admitted.
“Why don’t you let me take the lead? Let’s start with training wheels, then I promise to take them off, okay?”
“That sounds wonderful,” I smiled.
“How about we get more comfortable?”
I tried to push away from him. “I’m too heavy. I shouldn’t be leaning on you like this.”
Renzo let out a long laugh. “You’re too tiny to ever be a burden. No, I’m talking about sitting on the sofa. Can I carry you there?”
I squinted at him. “I’m more than capable of walking.”
“Yeah, but I enjoy carrying you.”
I rolled my eyes…again. “Fine,” I huffed out.
I held out my arms so he could lift me up, and Renzo laughed harder. Then he swung me up into his arms, bridal style. In mere seconds, I was sitting sideways across his lap, my butt nestled against his lap. There was no way I couldn’t be aware of his erection. Were all men’s erections like Renzo’s? It felt like I could feel his heartbeat.
I squirmed, trying to get into a better position. Trying to sit on his thigh, not on his lap.
“You’re killing me, Millie. Stay still.”
I stopped moving and stayed still like a statue.
“Now you need to relax,” he whispered with a smile.
“Stay still or relax? Which is it, Drakos?” I snapped at him.
He laughed again.
Did everything make him laugh?
Chapter Nine
This was either my best idea ever or my worst idea ever.
I looked down at flashing violet eyes. I was glad she’d been snapping at me, because she’d otherwise be a lot more nervous than she was right now. I was ninety-nine percent sure she’d never been in a man’s lap before, and definitely not in one where the guy had a raging hard-on!
“You haven’t answered me,” she grumbled.
“Relaxed. You should definitely relax.”
“Well, it isn’t easy.” She wiggled again, and I bit back a groan.
“Cariña, I’m begging you, stop moving.”
She frowned at me. “I’m trying to get comfortable. You’re the one who told me to relax.”
So much sass.
I wrapped one arm around her shoulders and pulled her close to my chest, the other around her hip to stop her from squirming. As soon as I did, she turned to stone. It was as if I was holding a statue. Millie had even stopped breathing. I moved my hand from her shoulders and worked to tip her chin up so I could see her eyes.
Nothing.
