“What did you think I meant?” Blaise asked. A creased formed between his brow as the gears in his brain turned.

I sighed. “Nothing. Don’t worry about it.”

He peered at me, but he didn’t press me because the doorbell rang, signaling Logan was here, and Blaise went downstairs to let him in. My heart beat loud in my chest, and my body tingled with anticipation.

Veronica gave me a side hug. “You look hot. He’ll love it. And we’ll talk about the secret you kept from me later.”

“Wasn’t a secret,” I explained. “Didn’t put two-and-two together until recently.”

“Well, it makes sense. Even at the housewarming party, you two seemed so…” She chewed on her lip as she searched for the words. “Comfortable together. Like you’d known each other for a long time. I guess you did, huh?”

“Sorta,” I admitted.

I wasn’t sure how to explain to Veronica that being gaming friends was different from being friends in real life. You could play a game with someone for years and call them a friend, but half the time, you didn’t even know their real name or what they looked like.

I picked up the archery prop because I was nothing if not a huge nerd and put it over my shoulder. I took another look at myself in the mirror. Staring back at me was the sexy, take no prisoners wood elf princess — crown and all.

“Let’s go!” Veronica cheered.

We walked down the stairs together, and I froze in my tracks at my warrior standing at the front door shooting the shit with Blaise.

Anyone who didn’t play the game probably thought he was dressed like a Viking. He wore a brown tunic and a fur-lined belt. Beneath the belt, he had fur-lined leather faulds over a pair of dark jeans, giving him that warrior Viking look. But what really put the whole thing together was the horned helmet on his head.

“Holy shit!” I exclaimed before I could stop myself.

Meanwhile, Logan looked at me like he’d never be able to pick his jaw up from the floor again.

Oh, hell yeah. Tonight was going to be fun.

Chapter Twenty-Five

LOGAN

Fuck me, she was like all my gaming fantasies come true. I used to make fun of her for that bikini top she wore as armor, but when she stood in front of me looking like a sexy wood elf princess, I was grateful for it. She even had the circlet and elf ears to complete the outfit.

“Wow,” I breathed out after I picked my jaw off the floor and told my dick to be quiet. “You look great.”

She beamed at me. “Really?”

“Yes, really.” I scanned her body, taking in every last delicious curve.

Something nagged at me, remembering her ex said something about her weight. Fuck that guy. I didn’t know what he was talking about because she looked amazing. She might have some scars from bringing Rosie into the world, but that wasn’t what I paid attention to.

Blaise snapped his fingers in front of my face. “Are you two horndogs coming?”

I nodded. “Yeah. I’m good. How about you, princess?”

“Great! Let’s roll.”

“I don’t want to Uber since we have to drive out to the Main Line,” Blaise said. “I figured we’d all go together.”

I nodded. “Good idea. I’ll drive.”

Mac and Natalia moved out to the Main Line to be closer to the practice facility a couple of seasons ago. It was better for us to drive together.

“V needs to be up front,” Lily said.

“That’s fine. Let’s go.”
