"By the time I knot you, I’ll already be deep enough."

Understanding flashed in her eyes. My knot would be past the anchor so when her body pulled tight, it wouldn’t trap the knot at the entrance. It would seat my cock deeper than anything she'd ever anchored before.

"And when you lock down on me, Teacup..." I said low against her ear, my hand tightening at her hip, "it’ll be the tightest, best thing either of us has ever felt."

She moaned.

"My knot will keep you stretched open while your anchor drags me into your pussy, locking us together from both ends."

I let the weight of it settle.

"No slipping. No pulling away. Just pressure, heat, and both of us trapped in it until our bodies decide to let go."

Another shiver rolled through her.

"It’ll feel like your body is trying to claim mine while mine’s claiming yours."

My mouth brushed the shell of her ear.

"And if you can take it, Teacup... it’ll ruin every other lock after."

From the way her whole body tensed, I knew the thought alone was enough to push her over the edge. A strangled cry tore from her lips as her hips turned frantic, chasing something desperate and wild. Then the floodgates broke.

She came hard enough to drench Farm Boy’s face beneath her.

Hayes let out a muffled sound, and for a second I wasn’t sure the poor bastard could breathe. His cock strained painfully against his fatigues, but if it bothered him, he didn’t care. Not when she was unraveling on top of him. He just kept lapping at her like he’d die if he stopped.

When her breathing finally steadied and the tremors left her body, I caught her jaw and turned her toward me. Her eyes were glassy, flushed, and still wrecked from the release.

"Now that you’ve been satisfied," I said low, brushing my thumb over her swollen bottom lip, "it’s time you took care of your alpha, greedy girl."

Then I kissed her.

Our mouths crashed together, all heat and teeth, soft lips meeting brute force. She kissed like she fought, aggressive, relentless, and refusing to give an inch without taking one back.

Exactly how I liked it.

Beneath her, Hayes groaned, frustrated and aroused, still trapped under the weight of her.

That made her smile against my mouth.

Chapter 17: Maeve Archer

Dawn spilled into the lookout in soft streaks of pink and gold, painting pale shapes across the wooden walls.

It wasn’t bright enough to wake Hayes. The idiot could sleep through anything.

He was still fast asleep beside me, snoring quietly, blond hair sticking up in every direction, a faint smear of drool at the corner of his mouth. His hat lay beside him, having fallen off at some point in the night.

The sight pulled a reluctant smile from me. Farm Boy looked ridiculous, but comforting, somehow.

Graves was already gone.

His cot lay empty, but his scent still clung to the tower, thick enough to nearly choke on. I’d never met an alpha whose scent carried that much weight, or that much command. It stirred something dangerous in me every time I caught it.

The problem was... it drowned Hayes out.

His beta scent was quieter and easy to lose beneath mine and Graves’s, especially when the three of us lay tangled together in one room. And as much as Graves’s scent lit a fire under my skin, Hayes’s grounded me. This morning, I needed steady more than fire.
