“Maybe. So be my fucking wingman and let’s go.”

Begrudgingly, I agreed. Not that I had much choice in the matter, since it would absolutely seem rude if I just left and went home now.

“Hank, how are you feeling?” Hazel asked, and her gaze dragged over my chest once again.

“Better,” I replied.

“You guys want to join us?” Hazel asked, pointing to the billiards table in front of them. “We just finished a game and were about to start another one.”

Hazel turned to the few other people standing around. “Unless anyone else wants to play?”

All of them shook their heads emphatically as though there was no way they were going up against her.

I wasn’t sure if it was because they saw me standing there and didn’t want to interfere with the sheriff—which sometimes happened—or if it was Hazel they were intimidated by.

“Sure, that sounds fun,” Dougie said, responding for both of us.

So much for our quiet guys’ night at the bar.

“You want me to rack the balls, or do you want to do it?” Hazel asked, and immediately my dirty mind went to her hand on my balls.

Dougie coughed out a laugh, letting me know his mind went to the same place, or he saw my reaction and knew where my mind had gone.

“You,” I croaked out.

I needed to get my shit together, though being this close to her wasn’t helping.

She had on a pair of light-blue jeans that were practically glued to her body, especially her lush ass. Her black sweater was molded to her curves, even though it covered every inch of her and wasn’t an item of clothing I would deem sexy on its own. With Hazel, though, I’d found that anything she wore looked good.

Those jeans stretched to capacity as she bent over to line up her cue and take her shot.

I cleared my throat and moved to the side, hoping that changing the view would at least keep my dick from getting too excited.

I wasn’t sure if it was because I had coughed or because she wasn’t very good at this, but her cue slipped and she didn’t hit a single ball.

Dougie chuckled—I did too, but I kept mine inside.

“You distracted me,” she argued. “Don’t base how you think the rest of this game is going to go from that one shot.”

She exuded confidence. Far too much, given the piss-poor shot she’d just taken.

“Based on what I’ve seen so far, I’ll just have to take your word for it,” I teased.

She huffed. “Alright, Cocky McRudepants, let’s make a bet.”

Internally, I cringed at her use of the word cock. Great… Now that was on my mind.

She turned fully to face me, hands crossed on the top of her cue stick as she leaned toward me in a power stance.

“If I win, you have to rescind the last two tickets you gave me.”

“I can’t rescind them if you’ve already paid them,” I pointed out, recalling that both tickets were more than a week old.

“Lucky for you, I haven’t gotten around to paying them yet.”

Christ.

I closed my eyes. “What do I get when you lose?”
