“What? That’s weird.”
He chuckled. “They were at a party.”
“Ooh…the sexy party. Kay told me all about that. Rawr.”
“Yeah. Well, that was the last time for me. At that party. Right after it, I saw Saxon going through all his angsty shit with his Boys, and a part of me was jealous. I wanted a relationship too. Well, I didn’t know exactly what I wanted, but more than just one-night stands.”
“Oh…and how did I fit into that?”
“I met you. We clicked right away. I didn’t know if it would be anything, but if I was going to have more with you or anyone else, I had to stop sleeping around. So…I didn’t.”
“That feels more romantic than it probably is.”
“Maybe.” He squeezed me, and I nuzzled against his neck. “But it is what it is, and it’s our story.”
“I like our story. And next year, you’re getting a lot more prezzies.”
“You being with me was the best thing you could give me, Joe. Besides, I loved watching you open all your gifts.”
“That’s sweet.” I nuzzled my nose against his throat. “But I want to see you open some too, Daddy.”
“Deal.”
Chapter twelve
Colten Catches the Show
Cincinnati, Ohio show
They were halfway through the longest leg of the tour, and I hadn’t seen him since Christmas. I spent too much time not knowing what was going on with him. We called and talked every chance we could, even if it was only text messages, but it wasn’t enough. I called Saxon so he could help figure out how I could be there for Joe. Christmas had been perfect, but it wasn’t nearly enough time with him. No, it left me wanting my Boy all the time. Wanting to hold his hand, stand beside him, and take care of him in any way he needed. I had to arrange my work schedule to make it happen.
Still, I was nervous about a lot of things, like showing up and surprising him, but I really enjoyed doing that kind of thing. Being alone with him at his house was very different than being around his bandmates, crew members, management, and fans. Would he slide back to not wanting that type of relationship if we were constantly surrounded by his music world?
By the end of the conversation, Saxon convinced me that surprising him at his next show would be a good thing. “Don will get you a backstage pass. This is perfect.”
“I don’t want to scare him away.”
Kay’s voice came over the phone. “Are you crazy? He misses you like hell and he’s all pouty. Get your ass to the show. We fly out to Ohio in the morning. Don will send you the deets.”
“If you’re sure.”
“We’re sure,” Kay and Don said together.
Decision made. “Send me the information so I can get a ticket.”
“Oh, hang on. Don’t buy it yet.” Don used his grown-up voice for once. “Jinx might splurge for you. I mean, obviously, he can’t send the company jet because we’ll be on it. But he likes doing shit like that. We should let him.”
“I’ll stand by then.”
Jinx did indeed buy me a ticket—a first-class ticket. I’d take that for sure. I wanted to think of a good way to thank him, but Saxon said making Joe happy would be thanks enough. Everyone was rooting for us. Except maybe Pierce, but I didn’t give a shit about him.
When I arrived, passes were waiting at the will-call box, and after picking them up, I navigated back to the dressing room and knocked before sticking my head in. “Joe. Hey.”
“Oh my God, you’re here. Come in. Come in.” He jumped into my arms, hugging me tight, and I wrapped my arms around him, pleased with the enthusiastic greeting. “Can’t believe you’re here. I’ve missed you so much.”
I kissed the top of his head, and then he tilted his face up, and I pressed my lips to his. He slid his tongue out, kissing me with passion that nearly made my heart stop. I thrust my fingers into his long hair, and he wrapped a leg around me, practically climbing up me. We couldn’t touch each other enough, and hands went everywhere. He was entirely too keyed up. “Does this door lock?”
“Yes…” he gasped, and I reached back and found the lock, turning it, before I walked him back to the couch. I undid his pants and jerked them to his thighs and pushed him down. “Daddy…” His eyes went wide, and his pupils were completely blown.
