“Shit,” Sarah replied. “The fuck are the omegas doing here?”

But Susie knew, and her heart pounded in her chest as she glanced back the way they’d come. They had two options: run, or fight.

They were too outnumbered to defend themselves, but running was hopeless—Susie wasn’t built for speed. But Sarah had a good chance of getting away, with her long legs and impressive athletic records.

And Susie had a feeling the omegas were here solely for her.

Susie’s grip tightened on Sarah.

“Go,” she hissed, dropping her bag at her feet. “Now.”

“I won’t leave you,” Sarah whined.

Oscar gave a low wolf whistle, singing, “Oh, Susie…”

“There’s too many of them.” Susie gave her a shove backwards. “Go get help.”

“Teachers?”

Susie shook her head. The teachers’ quarters were too far away. There was also the guard in the dorm, but that would take even longer, and there was no time to debate the options with the omegas stalking towards them.

“Get our pack.”

“I’ll have to go around,” Sarah said.

The way ahead was blocked by the omegas, their broad shoulders taking up the passage. The detour to the library would take Sarah an extra couple of minutes.

“Go,” Susie said, and Sarah’s shoes squeaked on the timber floor as she bolted, the tray of cookies clattering to the ground.

Please hurry.

The omegas did not pursue Sarah.

“Well, well, well, look who’s wandering around late at night,” Oscar drawled, his white teeth flashing as he advanced on her. The omegas chuckled low, two flanking him on one side; the other glowing gold as he shifted into wolf form and prowled close behind. “The headmaster’s new pet.”

“I’m not his new pet,” Susie retorted.

“You won’t be anything once I’m done with you,” Oscar smirked.

Susie flinched at the sound of cracking knuckles from the large omegas and took a step backwards, the cookies sliding off her tray as she lowered it by her side.

The tray was a potential weapon.

Susie reassessed the odds of her holding her own in a fight long enough for Sarah to get back with help.

It did not look good. As much as she prided herself on the sharpness of her claws, she was outmatched by the advancing wall of brute strength and muscle.

“What do you want, Oscar?” Susie demanded, retreating another step.

And another.

They were closing in fast. She was going to have to make up her mind on whether to run or fight.

“A little fun,” Oscar leered.

“You already had your fun,” Susie snapped. “Leave me alone.”

Closing in more.
